u reckon its worth joining forces with another freelancer so that you can rotate being the front man and doing the work from time to time ?

No. Not unless it's absolutely vital. I only pair myself with people who do things I can't do (like PHP, ASP, Flex.) Make yourself a little blackbook of 'go-to guys.'

as someone posted earlier (fyoucher i think) when yr freelance your the designer/accountant/salesman/prj manger etc and you have to put yr all into all of it.
you need to be good in front of people but you wont all ways be out in front of them all the time. I think its worth partnering with someone who compliments yr skills - i.e your a designer and you need a dev or your print and you need someone in digital

Freelancing is not for everyone. If you can't handle the ups and downs and scrounging for a bit then just look for another full time gig.
It is worth a try for anyone who hasn't done it. There is only one way to find out if it is right for you.
I've been on my own for five years and would never go back. It hasn't been fun and games for those five years though. I can honestly say that I have just started making the yearly income I want and I'm still not happy with the "security" of the situation.
Like others have said remember that you are wearing all the hats worn by those that make up a business. Some will fit, others won't at all but you'll have to duct tape them to your head somehow in order to get by.
