I would love any advice on the colors we have chosen for our site. Should I change them? Is the color and swirls in the background too distracting, taking away from the main purpose of why people go there? The purpose of the site is to find images and vectors for RF licensing. do the colors and the swirls interfere with that? I am afraid they might be after speaking with some people and thinking of changing them but since I am not a designer I would love to ask anyone who has a moment for feedback. What might be better colors if you think the ones we have now are not right? If you have any other advice on layout, I would love to hear that too. i have thick skin ;-) so thank you very much.

Should I change them?
Yes. The answer is yes.

it's not the lines so much as that is just a really intense color

Uhh. Just feels a bit like a template.

visiting the site left a minty lemony taste in my mouth. change it to cherry, please.

if you are going to put rounded corners on things you should at least cut them out properly.
and yeah, people will fit.

I like the turquoise/teal, pale yellow, black combination (logo), but the green could go completely (buttons/gradient).
Lose the background lines/gradient.

yeah i have felt it can be a bit intense and distracting.
@skt you are definitely right. i saw that too and will be fixed asap. laziness by the old designer.
let me think about what you just wrote monospaced.what do you guys think would be better colors to use?

the color invokes an evil-villains lair kind of look.. or like sickly
or psychedelic..I think you need some blue in there to instead of the yellow.. just to mellow it out a little.
- like y'know like likes like ?winnie_the_shit
- a light or dark blue. i'll def play around with that and like blue but a lot of my comps have blue so steered clearjohngrif

Colors are too bright to be together.

I appreciate the effort to create the background effect, but you should simplify it with a light gradient, perhaps light blue.

Full marks for the covert promotional thread by the way.
By the way, I'm not sure about the grey I've used for the type on my site...

I think the colors on your website are perfect!

i know that this sounds boring, but i think you should consider going to white. taste aside, the green is affecting the colors of the photos (and displaying them is the main purpose of the site).
i would then consider using the green on just the logo and as an accent color... maybe on buttons? etc.
hope that helps.
- i've thought about that as well and that was my concern that it might be a bit distracting from the overal purpose of the site and promoting the work.johngrif

Hey John,
Personally I don't think green is a bad color to use at all, just the shades that you are using right now could be tweaked. Also, I would lose the trippy background and go with possibly a lighter gray gradient or even white (if you made the white portions of the site have a subtle inner-shadow to offset it from the back) or a more subtle pattern.Something closer to this shade of green that you are already using on your site and gray might be nice....
These colors in this banner are also nice:
The design is solid, but the colors might trigger a migraine for some people :) My two cents, hope it helps!
- that does help a ton. im going to play around w those colors and see what i can do to tweak. i appreciate the feedbackjohngrif
