Whats the norm or is there a norm when it comes to getting severance pay? I was just laid off and they gave me 2 weeks severance pay.

I got nothing, thanks to the nature of my laying-off.

That's sounds right to me for the average junior designer post.
- I think it's 2 weeks severance pay + all the software/computer equipment/books you can carry out.Melanie

1 month to 3 months, 6 months if including "hush-up" money.

Two weeks is typically required. A decent company will give you 2 weeks for every year you were there, however, that is optional and typically not a labour law requirement.
What does your employment agreement say?

6 months...holy shit...

6 months? I'd jump from job to job getting laid off as I go.

I think it depends what the labor laws are where you are from.
over here, if they fire you out of the blue without a warning then they owe you 2 weeks + a certain % of money.
