Who's been where so far this season?
I'm working on planning a trip to Breck or Vail with a friend from Texas; I've not been to CO since 2000 and it's been WAY too long. Just the thought that there's a 50/50 chance we'll go is getting me excited. Never been to Vail but we always went to Breck on the college ski week trips in early January. I miss those days!

I want to go this year..
maybe mountain high.. I haven't snowboarded in AGES though..

I've gone twice in the last couple years to TINY TINY MINUSCULE hills in Wisconsin and Illinois, and I mean like 15 second runs from top to bottom but just enough to satisfy me.
If I go to CO I've got to get in shape fast.

I'm very disappointed in myself so far this season. Only been out twice and both of those times were to Blue Mountain :(
I blame my surroundings for the most part, but that's just a scapegoat. I should be pushing myslef to get somewhere "real"

I went on Saturday at Bristol Mountain in NY. I'm still sore.

I've had my board and gear since 98 and it's still a good board, but there's so much new stuff out there that I'd love to buy. New board technology, things like that.
Anyone have any info or thoughts on some of the newer boards out there - something that's a versatile all around board, upper 150 cm's? I wouldn't mind getting something a little shorter and quicker than my 158 if I knew it would hold up well in CO and be a good light board for small jumps at local places.

I prefer Abasin to Vail or Breck

Some of the new rocker tech is cool. Supposed to be really easy going in pow, and fun on hard pack. Whatever you end up going with buy it here:

Seems to be some really great deals.

www.the-house.com/ seems to have the best deals I find anywhere on all types of gear. Looking for a new jacket more than anything and possibly new boots. I don't need a new board... but would love one if I knew I was going to start going more often.
- thanks just picked up a burton custom 162. Had some big core shots on sunday on my 12 yo board. it was timekld

4 deaths in Whistler already this year. 2 from inbound avy's and two from shark fins.
- I had no idea there were 2 IN bounds deaths. I thought they were all East coaster OUT of bounds.D_Dot
- They were all technically inbound. The avalanches were in Spanky's and Harmony.2cents
- what's a shark fin?mg33
- tree wells. The snow builds up on the branches and looks like it's ok to ride on, but when any weight touches it, down you go. SadD_Dot

- wow i didn't know one of those was up on Spanky's... that's totally valid terrain.horton
- Shark fins are the bits of rock barely peaking out or hiding below a fresh snowfall that you can't see.2cents

I went to Mountain High 3 times when i was visiting my parents for the holidays. =)
I still suck. Going strait down is scary. I have to go down diagonal and be on an edge.

I have 26 days already this season. Skiing not riding. That's with a full time job. Living in Park City makes it easy tho.

32 gets my vote for new boots. SO comfy, I could ride all day in boots like that. As for outerwear, I'm partial to Arson

but that's cuz I try and support Canada as much as I can. Plus they have consistently tough weather proof materials.
