Just banged a new site together for the day job. The boss told me last friday he wanted a new site up by New Years showcasing what we finished this past year..so I just banged this together. Code is still a little sloppy, content a bit thin, but it'll hold for the long weekend...let me know what you think:
- ********0
it sucks
- Ampersanderson0
Make text size bigger for this paragraph:
"Hello, we're Integrity Construction, Inc. We create..."
- canuck0
Not bad, maybe a bit too much copy on that home page though?
- Ampersanderson0
I think you could unify the fonts in general; too many styles across the page.
- ********0
it's getting somewhere, but you are not there yet. keep workin on it,
- ********0
logo is ugly, photos are poor... text treatment poor, just normal colors
- Seriously, go fuck yourself troll.TheBlueOne
- you dont accept bad critics huh********
- go fuck yourselfTheBlueOne
- That's not 'bad critics', Mike - that's just inconsiderate slamming. Give some constructive feedback or STFU.NotByHand
- that isn't even a critic, or maybe it is, but is a destructive one!! Logo is ugly?? WTF is that as critic?? Since when you define Ugly or beaty for a logo??Elfangio

what is the width on that bad boy?
- an odd one. It nees to be fixed for sure.. was trying to hard to be "different" for no good reson I think..TheBlueOne

nice start, i agree with previous comment with unifying the overall look. i like the right column, but it make the rest look very text heavy

run the red stripe down the whole page. needs something to break things up. try larger font size/treatment. your padding on the far left nav is at odds with the photo - try playing with some uniform padding.
lose the light blue text quotes.

Thanks guys...good feedback..like I said I banged it together in a few hours planning on tweaking it over the weekend...

can you bang it more?

Project photos for Wes Lane could match the paragraph width.
Also - "including a turret with a wine cellar at it's base" - "its".
So, how much would a house like that cost in the States, ooi?I feel the red Integrity banner could do with some kind of graphic pairing or extension beneath to balance it off down the screen - kind of like the diagonal lines you've employed at the bottom on the right hand side.
- That house went for $10 million..but that was two years ago..knock a few million off now...TheBlueOne

I'd consider redesigning it so that the nav runs along the top, the "We are John, Martin, and Brian..." and the contact info is in the left column, and the Recent Projects are in the center column.
The left column feels underutilized, which seems like a waste of space since it will be the most accessible part of the screen for most people.

Also, should detail html text be in brand red, rather than orange?
- My thought as well + I would shop the sky in the main pic to match the brand blue closer.NotByHand
- yeah. I'm just sick of staring at that red color all day long and wanted o mix it up...I'll fix it..TheBlueOne

Make clear on where you are on the site, think you need to work more on the nav, it appears to me you don't have a lot to tell so we hide the nav a little bit.
- jaylarson0
Too many different type treatments here. Consolas & Courier, Verdana, Gotham Condensed Caps? Bold, red (my bad, orange-ish), blue. You get the picture.
It looks like a rough, but a thought out one. I also agree with ukit that the left column is underdeveloped.
Is there anyway to integrate some imagery in the background? I'm all for minimalism, I sure you could work out something.
I found this useful bit on large imagery:
http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/…I do like the "availability" of the recent projects. With the php integration, the site seems easy to use from a usability standpoint.
Since you gave me some crap on using diagonal lines, I'll do the same to you as they seem to come out of nowhere since there are grey boxes white boxes (use of negative space). Since you used /'s to delineate space between home // news // blog, you may be able to have the diagonal lines work for you.
Anyway, good luck.

i dont know if anyone else has picked up on it (didnt read it through)
too many typefaces
nav is completely lost
i think you've 'made the logo bigger' - maybe a bit too big'
surely the photos are the moneyshot?
- PunchDouble0
i like the layout but i dont think the menu is clear enough
- Elfangio0
its a clean grid layout, I think it works. One little thing: the layout is left aligned, so you should respect the gaps also in the left. the gap between the logo and the browser edge is bigger that the gap between other elements in the layout. Just my 2 cents...
