Look for books on how not to get scammed on wedding stuff. I got one before I went dress shopping and read through all the red flags to look for. The place where I found my dress hit just about every red flag, so I left. Went to another place, described the dress and they found it in their catalogs. Charged me almost $1000 less than the first place who claimed it was a "custom made dress" that was hand-beaded locally.
