Mine was about 10 or 12 years ago in London. I had just arrived in the city and most of the places were still closed, as it was really early. the only one that was just opening in front of me was Burger King.
I think they served me their first cup of the day (with cleaning detergents still in the machine, perhaps?) in an awful foam cup (as if you could taste the foam).. it was absolute horror.
from that day on i never ordered a coffee anywhere in the UK anymore. I figured they're good at making tea and that's about it!

The coffee they serve in any kind of lobby or waiting room is always the worst.

the second worst cup was on our local ferry. they were known for their shite coffee. as if they just filled the cups with hot water from the river.
luckily they built a tunnel now and we sold the ferries to sicilia! haha..

What do you expect from Burger King?

My story is as follow. Went to a Hotel lounge. They told me that they are doing Capuccino, Americano, espresso, latte....I asked to have a mocha.
Their answer: "sorry we dont do mocha"
WTF - how can you not have a mocha if you have the ingredient and make capuccino,
For sure UK is the country mad about coffee to be "continental' and they cant even make a decent cup of whatever coffee (or mocha)

Had the worst just the other day actually. Intended to make a full 12-cup pot. A bean or two got caught in the grinder, blocking other beans from sliding into the grinder.
Made a full pot with only enough coffee for about 1-2 cups. Vaguely brown water. Had a few sips, thought I was just insane or had a tumor because of the very weird taste, before I investigated.- hahahaha! that sounds strangely funny, like a bad comedy film..janne76
- haha, it was a bit in retrospect.harlequino

What makes the most horrible coffee is almost always the coffee maker it comes from.
Sure there is terrible coffee beans, but any coffee can be decent if it's from a clean coffee maker. Corporate environments are the worst offenders....usually cleaning their coffee makers about once a year if that.
Mix bad coffee, with a coffee maker that never gets cleaned....and you have the perfect combination for the WORST cup of coffee EVER.

I used to be tasked with making coffee at this grocery store I worked at in high school, it was a couple carafes with pour spouts in the front lobby for customers. It was an industrial setup - big brewer and big thermos that took ONE, I repeat, ONE packet of coffee for one full carafe.
It wasn't uncommon for me and others that worked there to use, oh, FIVE or SIX packets for one full pot. The coffee was so thick you could balance stuff on the liquid, and it would come out like motor oil mixed with glue.
No doubt that THIS was the worst coffee ever. And we just told people it was espresso and to get used to it, it's FREE!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

Another older lady that worked in the same office as me used to water down the coffee....and re-use the beans.....nasty! I think she went through the depression and thought this was a good idea to conserve or something.

The worst coffee I have ever had was in Amsterdam, 2 years ago. I visited a few friends and they showed me around at the AEX (Amsterdam stock exchange ). I was handed a horribly 'fashionable' cup made from a machine they call Senseeo or something. It tasted like an old hag's vaginal fluid.
Give me Kopi Luwak over any other coffee any day.

My GF reviewed Kopi Luwak for a magazine once, we brewed it three different ways and it still tasted like garbage. Weak and fruity.
It's overpriced hype.
