What do you do you have a client who is starting to take the piss your the amendment agreement ?
I said to them once "i have finished the first draft of the site (upon design approval) then, i will make any neccessary ammendments".
Next thing i know, their changing their fuckin minds every 2 seconds with the design.

So charge them, do you have written down deal/agreement?
- usually have contracts but not with this client. but everything is legit in terms of payment etcWeLoveNoise

When ever I feel they are taking the piss I always say: Sure but it will cost ya!
Some clients just want to get as much out of you as they can. Just say no if you feel they are taking advantage.
- will be doing so in about 30mins

welcome to web design 101...

Fortunatley my freelance clients know what to expect for their money, however you always give them a little more it's quite normal, but on the few occasions that they have been 'taking the piss' I have been quite polite and said 'you are really streching your budget too much here, if I do these other changes for your wallette will suffer'
It's quite a tricky situation as long as you can find a way of saying 'you are asking for too much' politely then you will be fine. Alternatively throw hot coffee on their fat fucking faces.
- I wonder if throwing cold water is more efficient this way they can't sue useven8nine10

yeh chossy - this is exactly the same thing.
think its finding a way to say it politely...............usually i would charge them but when i agreed to do the amends inclusive in the original quote i didnt realise that it was gona get so out of hand.
its a small site so one thinks "how many amends could they possibly have"

I tell them they get a certain number of rounds of ammends. By all means if they want to move something every 2 minutes they're using a round of ammends every 2 minutes.
I tell them to take their time and send a considered list rather than dicking around like your clients sound like they're doing. It doesn't always work out but most of the time they're alright if you tell them small changes are still changes.
- yeh i do the same
its my fault really because i didnt set any ground rules to the amends which means i cud effectively be working like a slaveWeLoveNoise - effectively be working as a slaveWeLoveNoise
- Stand your ground and tell them to collect their "ideas" in one document.jamble
- yeh i do the same

"I can do these things, of course, as long as you're aware there will be budgetary consequences"
- WeLoveNoise0
they are fuckin clever tho
just had a warm up call where they asked to call back in 30mins for a conference with 2 of themcant wait - 2 on 1 should be fun
- kelpie0
just hold fast to what you agreed without being narky.
They maybe just need it explained to them that a round of amends means going off with the thing for a while and having a proper think about it before supplying ONE document with multiple changes rather than a string of constant little changes which is bad for them and you, in terms of making the project efficient
- kelpie0
just don't say "I've got other projects on you know, and I don't have time for this" or whatever, cos they'll just think you're a dick and bang goes your working relationship. There's a skill in making every client think they are your most important concern at that time, without taking on the role of unofficial in house designer. That's what good account handlers manage.

just put my foot down because i thought this call was going to be a signoff and they said "theres just a couple of amends"
so just said (and was literally reading from QBN as we speak) "I can do these things, of course, as long as you're aware there will be budgetary consequences"
to which they replied - oh we were on the understanding that it included amends.
so i said yes that right but this is your 4th lot of ammends now and the project was due to go live 2 weeks ago. ii i dont start putting restrictions on the project, we delay the launch even further and the original worked/hours i quoted you for have gone excessively over.
fuck me that was an effort
- Peter0
So, did that work?
- kelpie0
nice one, did you finish the sentence with the word "cunt"?
just checkin'
- lol............ no but really really wanted to. if they hadnt finished theres with plz send the 2nd invoice i wud have gone madWeLoveNoise
- gone mad after i hung upWeLoveNoise

ask for a complete list that will be actioned... ask them to set a deadline and make it clear that this is the final set of amends and that any future ones will be chargeable...
explain its the easiest way to get the site online and earning for them.
- Glitterati_Duane0
Damnit I gotta work on that too. I'm doing a printed directory right now and am on the 6th set of amends and of course we're way past deadline. When I explain that to the client you would think they'd smarten up. I need to stick to my contract and ding them for that stuff.
- MakeBelieve0
"i will make any neccessary ammendments" this clause is basicaly saying: "here's my arse, do as you please"
- trooperbill0
yup - i always set a schedule, a checklist of the process and explain the ONE time opportunity to supply amends
