When installation is finished
Run disable_activation_osx as root
if you dont know how to do that, open a terminal window
then issue sudo -s, a root shell will open
then simply do "sh disable_activation_osx" w/o the ""
or ./disable_activation_osx( make it executable chmod 755 disable_activation_osx
you do that from the folder where disable_activation_osx is. (just copy it anywhere on your hdd)

I open terminal and then run:"sudo -s"
Then I get
"Bash32"
Then I run: "sh disable_activation_osx"
But it keeps telling me "file not found"
- airey0
that sucks. maybe the file isn't there.
- pauli0
What file?
- airey0
the file that's not found.
- airey0
it's beginning to sound like this:
- janne760
what file is not found?
- airey0
the one it said isn't found. (slaps forehead)
- airey0
and to stop the fun, i'm guessing the text file 'disable_activation_osx' that should be created by the setup isn't. so you're doing something wrong. or not.
- acescence0
from your instructions:
"simply do sh disable_activation_osx
or ./disable_activation_osx
you do that from the folder where disable_activation_osx is.
(just copy it anywhere on your hdd)"have you copied this file somewhere?
when you log into terminal, the dfault directory is your home directory. if you didn't copy the file disable_activation_osx there, then it's not going to work!
if you know where the file is, you can do sh path/to/file/disable_activation...

also, you can try:
locate disable_activation_osxthis will tell you where the file is located.
also, it is likely to be in the system root, not your user root, so, try:
cd /this will take you to the sys root. see if it isnt hanging out in there

when i run sh disable_activation_osx in terminal i am getting "disable_activation_osx: line 7: /etc/hosts: Permission denied" any thoughts, am i missing something?
- acescence0
are you doing sudo sh or just sh? it is a permissions problem. your script is trying to modify a file it doesn't have permission to.
sudo = super user do

I'm having the same problem, this installer appears to do not have or generate the script to run ... If someone here could send the script to us ...

Hello everyone. Can anyone address the 'permission denied' issue? What I have tried:
I followed the cryptic instructions to the letter
I did drag and drop with the file (which is directly on my root)
Verified and repaired my permissions
Logged in as rootmany things give me 'file not found', and my best result is 'permission denied'
Has anybody else had this problem and been able to solve the issue? Please help. Thanks.
- jnic0
Hey all. So I figured out the issue. I opened the disable_activation_osx file as a text document and copied the text into terminal, as opposed to using the instructions here which use commands to reference the file.
If anybody else has the 'permission denied' problem, try this. Just copy and paste the code text into terminal. Then, after you see 'process complete', simply re-start and you should be good to go.
Also, be sure to be disconnected from the internet when you set up/use CS4
