I just ordered CS4 web premium. Illustrator finally supports flash like alpha channels and gradient. it only took 3 versions since the Macromedia acquisition.

everyone here uninstalled and reverted back to cs3. crashes tons.

yea, the new flash import settings allow you to import directly from PSD or AI and decided on the fly how each item, layer and group is imported. whether it will be a movie clip, if it will have an instance name... all kinds of crazy shit.
THAT is the best thing about this release for me so far.

screens on my 19'' flat panel @ 1280x1024:
[ai's ux is actually really nice. you can use spacebar+mouse move your document around on stage in ALL screen modes. i wish they added this to photoshop]
[you can't put the properties panel at the bottom of the screen any more, least i can't figure out how yet. that bums me out]
[this is my favorite part of the update. you can import psds and ais directly and decided where each piece goes, if it's going to be a movie clip, if text should remain editable, etc... this is the money shot for me haha]all in all i'm sure i'll learn to love it. for now i'm still using ps cs3 tho. can't wait to get digging at flash more too.
- and i'm dying to see it on my cinema display at work...********

I have a pretty specific question that I'm having trouble getting answered over at ConceptArt...
I'm running Leopard on a Mac Pro and in CS3 I have a problem with brushes crashing every time I set Shape Dynamics/Angel Jitter to "directional". This helps emulate a flat paint brush and I'm a painter, so this is a pretty crucial feature for me. Does CS4 solve this problem?
Can anyone using Leopard try out a brush with this setting and tell me if it is stable. It's make or break for me in terms of purchasing.- I mean try this in CS4 to se if it is stable. Thanks!BRNK
- well I have a new apple laptop with leopard 10.5.5 and I have done this what you say and does not crash. I picked a different brush at different angle jitter with noise on and smoothing, all looks ok and does not crash!Copey
- oh ya it's in CS4 too!Copey

do you design web pages that you want your clients to be able to edit directly?
if not, skip it.
