i think if it were work i had a deadline for and was getting paid for i could do it easier. but it's really just personal things i want to do. things you get ideas for that you KNOW no one will pay you to do but you just gotta, you just gotta.

Oh, in that case, I know what you mean. I know exactly what you mean.

it's a case of motivation and fatigue.
I feel exactly the same way.Buy a moleskine and take notes of the stuff that you want to work on during the day, so that when you get home MAYBE you'll be compelled to work on that a bit, and if not, file it away for later

you could also look for more flexible work. or work fewer hours and try to find a cheaper place to live.
i have different jobs every now and then..
not design related, because most of the agencies i used to work can just smell you did websites before and when they do they'll chain you and give you the most horrible work ever. and there's almost no escape.
so fuck that,
you only live once.

I cannot relate to this thread. Life's for livin', folks. Turn off the TV, crack a beer and get something done, I say.

As Frank Zappa said, "shut up and play yer guitar"
Quit complaining about not having time to do stuff, it's times like that when you do have the time, just don't waste it.
The more projects you get involved in the more motivated you will get. Key is not to work alone. Collaborate with one or two other people and you will motivate eachother, you begin to have expectations of what the others will produce which motivates you.I know what people mean about being worried about not doing enough with your life. I find myself getting home from work at 8 or 9pm, eating and then staying up until 2am just so it feels like I've had some time to myself, then up at 7am again. A week of that and then I'm tired out by the weekend

not feeling that situation at all

......and then there are people that just work during the day and come home, with no intention of doing any other kind of work outside of their day jobs.

i went back from the city to the country and do some design work, and next to that i cycle a lot with a heavy backpack with photo equipment. sometimes even in bad weather, and sometimes over 40 km's per day. i hardly ever go out anymore, only go to a bar at the end of the day every now and then, and usually order only one drink, to save money. An Irisch Coffee that usually is.
It is so much tougher financially and i take up jobs that are paid little, but due to this lifestyle i try to pay some bills/debts and then it is time to save up and make more time to do the things you have a passion for.it is really important to listen to your inner soul, to say it a bit sentimental. be honest with yourself and get rid of things, look for what really matters and devote your time to it.
it may give a long nagging feeling as you miss some habits, but getting tougher in enduring the soberness of your new lifestyle will be very rewarding after a while.you will also find out you don't really miss those expensive nike's, or getting wasted every weekend or the expensive apt. you used to live in. you simply get closer to yourself.

well i went back to school , work full time and have a side business that is very demanding, i am also married and have a kid. I have lots of side projects that I poke at here and there, I try to get people involved to lessen the burden on me, but it is hard to find reliable people at least in these neck of the woods , that and add the fact that I am a video game whore , makes me feel like I "don't wanna do shit" sometimes, and im a stoner so that does not help

little big planet is seriously cramping my schedule lately.
