"Far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkereby failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory or defeat."
...or in other words:
Throw out your tv, have food on your train home, work on your shit because no one else will work on it for you.
Unless you win the lottery, but chances are you'ld no longer be working your day job then.
It may sound corny, but I don't care: if you have enough passion for what you want to do you'll find the energy for it.

sometimes i wish i stuck at illustration rather than interaction design... I feel I could get an idea done in an evening for an illustration... but for a web site, I'd need about 60 evenings :(

Urgh, i have been feeling like this for a while... I really can't snap out of it unfortunately... My motivation is at home, where once home i have no time to do anything. Groan.

not having a job for the past 4 months has taught me one thing..
while before i blamed having to work/study for my apathy.. now i realize, i am just apathetic in general.there must be a pill or something you can take for apathy..

Vote Barry H. Obama. Maybe you'll be able to stay at home and collect welfare at a rate of 35K a year and get free health care as well. //Awesome.

I totally know what you mean, and I have exactly the same live style! As if the sunshine comes out on the weekends, I don't really want to sit in doors designing as I get to do that all week.
Although I am feeling positive at the mo as I have just ordered my new Mac and am gearing up to do my folio and then see what happens!
Best thing I can say, set aside an hour a day and see what you can get done in that, otherwise if you try and do everything in one go, you'll just get annoyed!
Good luck!

HIre someone to do your freelance work?
- Khurram0
what makes you think that you have anything worth doing or anyone would be interested in your hipster "projects"?
- iamlo0
i didn't know having personal projects was "hipster". and i know no one is interested in them - they aren't for you, they're for me, get it? and just because they came from a single thought and i am able to make them real, that's all the worth while.

Do our stuff at the weekends.. thats what I used to do back in the day
- FallowDeer0
I feel exactly the same!
I spend all day thinking of cool stuff I could do but by the time I get off the train and back home the last thing I wanna do is sit at a computer. So maybe get out, take a camera with you and take some snaps?

I don't know... I am constantly working on projects outside of work, especially with music, and having the 9 to 5 helps me make better use of my time... without the job I end up being even less productive!

Yeah, I felt like this for a while and then I started to get into photography, a great hobby/interest whatever you call it, energizes you, I got up a 6am the other morning for the great light you get in the morning. I think it's about taking your creative energy and ploughing it into something different, not design, you do that all day and the last thing you're gonna wanna do is go home and do the same old shit. Try something different, it really works.

I just suck it up. I know exactly how you feel, but I just pull 16 hour days, it's balls, but it will pay off.
