"The table is so large, and so heavy, it needed to be cleverly designed in 3 separate sections"
ooooh. sections are difficult.....stick to the graphics..

Love the fact that they put space for the conference phone at either end of the table instead of putting it in the middle. And judging from those photos there's probably gonna be a lot of bruised knees at 2A from bumping into those wonderful pointy accent rings/table bases.

Much like in fashion, where there is a fine line between costumes and couture, industrial design has its movie set decoration and furniture.
Consideration for tech centric design was achieved yet it lacks any real design element. It is suspect when a table as such is created with out consideration of essence of design, let alone ergonomics.
An architect with client is not an architect and they will design furniture when in need. The form and function is the key to many aspect of all variation of design practice. This design while true to their 2AD design principle in its form, is much like their work; design with out real purpose or direction. It posses unnecessary elements that does not speak. Using technology or graphics for sake of using them.
A technology drive design gets out dated fast if it does not have the body that carry the fundamentals design. Even in print or web, a technologically driven design is no design but show case of the technology. A technology should be used as a tool for design not the other way around.

I've always found 2A to be a bit out-of-touch. Fluff design firms will be our downfall, mark my words.
- pffft.. they do not influence design in the least. like anyone talks about them.. really, do not overrate them..janne76
- i am surprised at how some remarks here seem to come from such narrow minds.janne76
- they affected design greatly in the early part of the decade. now they're a jokeLlyod
- Talking about 'Fluff' design in general. Cheap concepts = concepts that can be done from anywhere in the world.tommyo
