SigDesign - there was some visual design. There's a lot of type as they go through fundementals.
I'm not a fan of HCI programs. They churn out people who are jacks of all trade, know contextual inquery, scenarios and visio... not to mention I don't really see HCI programs that look at the background of design. the fundementals are key.
Also, often times HCI programs (and a lot of design schools) don't teach you how to present your ideas. Ideas can often by a dime a dozen, but selling as idea, and telling the story of your idea. that's tough.

I seriously want to start a school so I can teach UX/UI people typography and Designers to do UI/UX. My real goal is to have UX/UI people tell me they want to do something based on cognitive functioning instead of "That's the way Facebook/MySpace/Amazon/Ebay/Goo... does it."
