Howdy folks,
I know nothing about video nor motion but i´ve been asked to create an animation that will endlessly loop when played in a dvd player. So...I have created my animation in AE, its 10 seconds long, how do i get it to loop endlessly?

make it 20 seconds and copy the first KF at the 20 sec?

i exported as an avi and it loops seamlessly in Windows Media Player.I´m just curious if this will work when burt onto a dvd and played on a dvd player. Is that just a matter of setting the dvd player to loop?

Must use Encore DVD or something similar...
With Adobe Encore DVD:

Set the end jump of the 10 sec animation to go back to the beginning and do it all over again

- to loop a rendered movie in AE, import the rendered movie (qt) file, highlight it in the project window and hit Apple+F. A loop # of times option is at the bottom.

Use toast and loop it continuely, make the AE file seemless would be my tip.

the dvd will put a tiny gap in when it loops. unless its a high end dvd player. therefore you are better of making the actual avi a lot longer and then only having the physical loop happen every few minutes.

Easiest way to loop a comp in AE is to enable Time Remapping then on the 'Time' modifier add this expression "time % source.duration" then you should be able to drag the clip length out as much as you like

thanks guys, i´ll go ahead and try your suggestions and hope i don´t fuck up anything

There is an old hack for iDVD (if using Mac), to do an endless looping DVD. I did for a video installation a few years ago. Basically you change the iDVD project file by "opening the package" and going into a specific file component, where you make your main video file the video that loops as the DVD menu during playback. Works like a charm. Search for it, it's out there.
- Btw I'm addressing purely the playback issue, not the technique of creating a seemless animation.harlequino

Make the end of you animation the same as the start go to DVD studio pro.
in connections chose first play chapter one track one, then chose chapter one end jump chapter one. This will do it for you simple easy.

Software is not the issue, hardware is.
Unless you have a high end DVD player (not consumer) you will see a gap every time the movie loops (image freezes for a few seconds, then starts again), so even if your loop is seamless on the quicktime file (windows media?) you will still see the gap on DVD.You need to copy paste the loop on the actual file, 10, 20 times depending on length, so this way the gap will show only after repeating 10, 20 times. Its hard to explain, but it doesn't matter what software you use, the gap will always happen on a DVD. (and this applies to audio on your file as well)
