finally, what you expected them to never appear?
- Yes. I also expected a spaceship to emerge from behind the comet Hale Bopp in 97.doctor

Well, the price is what makes me not want buy one more than the look.
But.. I'll need to get one for university.
Anyways, if it works well, i'll be satisfied and for that price it have to work fucking great
Otherwise, the look isn't that much important to me.. It's better than the plastic of the VIAO.. Put stickers if you hate it

glossy screen only? WTF!

Here's what I don't get: why doesn't the viewable display area reach from end to end of the cover? I'm no industrial designer, but the evolutionary trend of the screen in product design seems like there should eventually be virtually no distance between the display and the edge of the product. I think apple out of any company should be aware of this, so there must be some engineering problem that restricts this.

so you know this is a bunch of designers talking when there is almost no speak of function, it's all about aesthetics here....

Unless you're a web designer/gamer or I'm missing something, a glossy rich color screen doesn't mean jack diddley when it comes to CMYK/profiles. I'm glad I got my MBP 9 months ago, even though I knew a new design was coming. I wanted to stay with the classic look, I hope it gets discontinued forever, and that everyone else ends up with this thing. But if you have an older laptop, then yah, I 'd suggest getting one. It's still a solid machine.

someone explain this:
* NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MBhow does the mbp have two graphics cards? I read that the 9400 is integrated. what does that mean?
Graphics and video support
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M* NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor with dual-link DVI support; 256MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.4GHz configuration; 512MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.53GHz and 2.8GHz configurations
* NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory3
* Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors- im guessing its built into the motherboard as opposed to a separate card thats plugged into a port on the board..October

One FireWire 800 port (up to 800 Mbps)
Two USB 2.0 ports (up to 480 Mbps)WTF! on the old one, there FireWire 400 and 800. only cause not EVERY ONE HAS OR USE 800.
WHO CAME UP THE THE IDEA, THAT 800 ITS STANDARD!
that is not mac pro, its looks like the standard one. i am sure they think designer should use mac air. lol. that one is a joke.i really don't like the new one, maybe they should stay with making ipods and other overrated crap.
- i know, i know. usb 2.0 suppose to be faster then FireWire 400. but i don't care. I think its better.akrokdesign
- the FW800 on the MBP is backwards compatiable, you can get an adapter cableadev
- i am sure they sell it at apple store now. for 49. or something. good deal for them.akrokdesign
- well, i guess i could get a 800 external with 400 port on it, and connect the rest. :-) YEAAAHakrokdesign

Lack of Firewire on standard Macbook is a deal breaker :(

2 usbs is pretty weak too. I need three just to function. will have to buy a usb hub.

What the hell happened to the Snow Leopard?
I guess i wait until the new OSX out to buy the Macbook Pro
- BuddhaHat0
As far as I understand it, they're engineered the device to have both nvidia chipsets onboard, but a lot of users won't need the performance provided by the 9600M, and as such will be able to direct the OS to use only the lower-power 9400 chipset, which will in turn extend the device's battery life by a full hour, if you believe the marketing wank.
I've not seen this exact configuration before, but I'm making these assumptions based on a clip of text from the 15" MBP page itself:"The new MacBook Pro combines the efficiency of an integrated graphics processor with the desktop-class performance of a discrete graphics processor. That’s because it has both."
It's an interesting prospect, but I'm still not sure I think the spread of technology across the 3 different sizes is quite right. And is DisplayPort actually used by people overseas? In Oz I have seen precisely diddley-squat.
- yeah 5 hours, would be on its first day of its life. then its all down hill from there. lol.akrokdesign
- akrokdesign0
whats the "ExpressCard/34 slot" really for? i do not know or do i ever had to use it?
- sounds like a really un useful stuff. anything called express, really goes really so etc.akrokdesign
- i am tired. ok. so spelling is ....what ever. lol.akrokdesign
- a hspda card for wireless internet for example, or some extra usb hubs.alkanenine
