I would agree to a certain extent, but there is no need to make it look the same as all the other browsers. Doesn't have to look broken, just have different version for IE6. Also this works great for pngs in IE6, http://24ways.org/2007/superslei…

I know that hack but what's the point in having all kinds of CSS and JavaScript hacks just for IE6? Not worth it if you ask me...
- Gordy220
I hate the piece of shit too but it all depends on your audience.
Unfortunately, If you're targeting businesses a lot of them still use IE6 for some godforsaken reason - if you have a site that people pay for you have to make sure they can access it.

Also - may I suggest something like jquery for the whole png issue.
One small js include sorts out the transparency issue.

As much as I want IE6 dead and the developer team prosecuted, I think it's wrong to ditch it. "WTF dude?!!" you ask?
Here is why:
- You can never expect users to understand you technological reasons for not providing them with the content they need.
- Messing with the users, especially when talking about a potential +20 percent of them, will backfire at some point.
- Depending on who you design for and where they're located, it could be illegal to block IE6 users and/or provide them with different content, like sr_5's example. Especially in the US (they have http://www.section508.gov) but also in UK and a few other European countries, this issue is taken seriously.
- Designs don't have to look exactly the same in different browsers. We need to get over it. I recommend reading this, by Andy Clark on this topic: http://forabeautifulweb.com/blog…
IE6 isn't dead though it STINKS!

Its all the fault of incompetent IT departments and management cunts buying shitty intranets developed by Microsoft Certified© morons that only worked in 1 browser... IE6. They invest so much money in crap which only renders in IE6 and uses all that ActiveX bullshit that they can't afford to change.

http://discover.stapletondenver.…We're trying to politely inform users that their browser is outdated and it's effecting their experience. It help to have a progressive thinking client, not everyone would be down with this...

Transparent PNGs are not a problem in IE6, just make them gifs/jpegs and make it look shitty.
Face facts if your using IE6 everything looks shit on the net anyway from the broken sites to the fucking horrible windows font rendering.
So why bother putting so many hours of effort in for cunts.- you obviously have never heard of "business concerns"studderine
