So yesterday I had a bit of a party and we were playing music from my computer out in the backyard hooked up to some speakers. Some fucker decided it'd be fun to put a bunch of candles right beside where my it was sitting and ended up spilling wax all over the bottom row of my keyboard. Now there's an abundance of flakey wax pieces under my keys and the keys as well as most of the bottom of my laptop is all tacky with wax. Anyone have any ideas on how to clean this shit up?

Don't try to boil it off.

Ice cube it first - will make it brittle and easy to remove.
To remove whats left use with a hair dryer which will melt it
make it easy to wipe upWorks on Tables ;-)
- that'll probably fuck up your computermonospaced
- ah ... was thinking of external keyboard ...alicetheblue

Man, I guess I would get one of those mini vacuums. I'm afraid if you try to take it apart, you may not be able to put it back together the right way (unless you've done this before...). My best adv would be take it to a genius bar (would be funny to see their expressions!)

Compressed Air might super-cool the wax to make it brittle. Then you could use a vacuum.....

DO NOT use a hair dryer. itll melt the keys on macbooks

warm it and put newspaper on it, the newspaper will suck it up. or go to an apple store and get the keyboard changed
- turn it upside down and use a hairdryer, but not to hot.Shepstar15

find that fucker and break his fucking nose. won't fix your keyboard, but it will get your message across.

do i feel bad for you? absolutely.
do i have any suggestions to rid you of your plight? none.:/
- ribit0
lots of small wicks planted in the wax push down between keys, light them all... wait for wax to be sucked up...

with the heat of the pro i imagine the wax will melt deeper and deeper into the mechanical stratospheres. maybe sell it to an unwitting buyer and start over? <--- horrible suggestion.

no idea. can you remove the keys without breaking them? how about bringing it to the apple genius bar, see what they says.
hope it works out, good.

Take it to an independent mac Store, and ask how much they'll charge to fix it

what does Applecare cover?
