Hi All, Wondering if I could get your opinion on something real quick.
My client is currently changing the focus of his movie review site to promote the social networking half of the site and deaccentuate the movie reviews half.
The current site is here:
http://www.moviebamba.com/The new site will focus on the "Meet People" half which incorporates Event Nights, Let's Meet (online dating for the purpose of getting to know someone in the area with similar movie tastes and going to a movie together), Icebreakers (anonymously contacting people through the site to get to know them) and sharing Events through a Facebook Application.
The revised UI for the home page is here:
I've always told him that I didn't like the name of the site and thought that now he's changing focus, we should revisit the name.
The client registered the name and url:
Meet Me at the Movies
http://www.meet-me-at-the-movies…I told him this is probably not memorable or user-friendly to key into browsers and that a lot of word-of-mouth advertising would be lost because of how long the domain name is and the use of hyphens.
On the table are the following names, URLs:
MovieMeeters
http://www.moviemeeters.com/MeetaMovie
http://www.meetamovie.com/(and my personal favorite)
Flick Buddies
http://www.flickbuddies.com/He wants this aimed toward 21-55yo movie fans interested in movies and events, possibly single and interested in meeting partners, with medium to high web savviness.
Which name do you like? Would you keep the original one? Would you suggest a new one? Why?
Please note that I didn't design any of the logos/identities for MovieBamba or Meet Me at the Movies and I'm not seeking criticism on this point (it'd be like beating a dead horse). I'm primarily concerned with name/domain recognition, preference, memorability/retention and methodology/philosophy on why.
Thanks in advance.

I should've mentioned that beta-testers and focus groups were confused by the name "MovieBamba" because it didn't say "social networking" or "meet people at movies/events". And, while I don't think it needs to say this (see: amazon, apple, ebay, flickr, and all other sites that make no reference to their services), the client and feedback disagrees.
What about keeping MovieBamba, but adding a more descriptive tagline?

makes more sense to me.

So Nairn and D_Dot recommend keeping the current name and everyone else has no helpful opinions that I could bring to the client, eh?

Ill give you my opinion for some of your salary.

Don't like moviebamba (prolly beacuse bamba = cocaine in italian)
The other proposed are quite weak in term of recognisability.
I'd try something different
