I have one. it cost a few hundred bucks with the lawyer and all that...not sure you have to go down that road though. i think filing for one yourself costs like $75 or something...not sure.
The 1440 Project.
i have not done a thing with it though haha....shit.

if it's just you, I would consider not doing an LLC.

That's for CO, but only takes a few minutes, costs less only (I think $25). LegalZoom basically saves you a step or two, but you pay a lot more.
In CO, you'll have to get your tax ID separately, I think LZ does this for you.On the other end, the first LLC I created (have 3 now) we paid a lawyer to setup up quickly, cost $750.
I completely disagree with doesnotexist - why would you NOT make an LLC???!!! It gives you protection, costs next to nothing, and you only have to confirm your address once a year.
I would go so far as to say it is careless not to make your business an LLC (although I am changing one business to a SCorp now, for tax purposes)

i have an llc...easiest thing on the planet to set up. i think i just paid the $35 (or so) fee and did it all online. llcs are the best way to protect a sole proprietorship. my husband's a lawyer and so far he's been nothing but correct.

filing a LLC is dead fucking easy. if you need help go down to your county office. they'll set you straight...for free.

My LLC only cost me $170 in MN and took less than 30 minutes.

Go to your Secretary of State web site and search for the LLC forms. In Minnesota you can fill it all out online, pay your fee online, and you receive your paperwork less than a week later.
