I am. Seems tough out there at the moment for freelance stuff. Usually really busy this time of year. Any one else having trouble?

Not really feeling it in the states ... yet!

I've been getting a decent amount of work of late but it's definitely a bit quieter than last year which was hectic.
Love your illustrations though.

hmm makes me wonder where the problem is. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Or it could be that I am just a bit shit..

maybe if you learned packages such as photoshop and illustrator that you'll be able to develop and improve your design skills.
i dont think you are pushing yourself enough at the moment using Paint Pro.

Have you signed up with some recruiters? Might be worth a punt or giving them a reminder call if you're with some already to let them know your availability.

no you're great..
is that what you wanted to hear migy.
well im not just saying that migy. i really really really love you and i think you're great. go get them tiger. get on the streets with a placard and your hourly rate on it, that'll get you lots of business... maybe not the kind you're looking for but business is business...

Migy, I have noticed a distinct lack of calls and emails coming in. I can't yet say I have no work becuase I have lots of repeat business coming in... series of book covers I've been doing for a number of years etc. But for sure there is nothing NEW coming my way at all.
One of my publishing clients in NY said that a lot of the illustrators he knows are screaming out for work now because they haven't had anything for weeks and weeks.
Personally I think there's nothing to do but take the opportunity to do some promotional items and get the word out. Don;t fall down the hole of self doubt wondering if its becuase youa re just a bit shit (as per your post above) because it just aint the case mate. Lets face it, in times of uncertainty probably the first thing you decided to do without is some illustration, however good it might be.
Hang tight Migy old pal! It'll come back soon!

Yep SkyPoo I think you could be right... Might have to branch back out into web stuff. Or maybe some teaching. I could teach a whole new generation of kids to draw stupid stuff.

"keeping busy" "can't complain" "another day another dollar" "make hay while the sun shines"
FUCK ALL THAT.
I'm bored of working, trying to find a way out.

I am feeling the same way. If you get any good escape ideas let me know.

The illos are lovely migy, esp your personal stuff. As others have said its the time to start doing self promo stuff and getting your name out there. Good luck with it!

Yeah I have been mate. Seem to spend all my time doing personal work, which is great. But its not helping paying the mortgage. I blame the greedy bankers... Yeah bastards.

i'm a fan of your work. i would suggest trying to develop another approach maybe. otherwise people see your style and wait for the right project to use it.
are you with an agent?
illustration has been 'hot' for a while, maybe it's not hot anymore
- migy0
I have an agent. only getting bits n bobs from them though. Not sure i have the energy at the moment to illustrate a new folio.
I see illustration every where so who knows. Time will tell
- harmsie0
Migy, your works lovely, So i doubt that it.
have you tried this place (QBN for give me for mentioning another design community) http://www.ycnonline.com/ try the agency bit, they seem to focus on illustrators. Also I have noticed that places seem to be slowing down on the outsourcing stuff so that could be why...you might have to look for a full time inhouse position somewhere

you don't have to do a whole new folio. just start to filter in some new stuff.
seems like every piece on the site has a character in. you do some really nice hand rendered type. do a few bits just using that for example.
think of how to take your style in new directions.
