the last time i went to walmart they forgot to charge for the $100 product under the cart. i didn't realize it till after we left with all our shit. i still don't feel bad about it.

I remember we had this friend in our group that would never want to eat at "multinational" restaurants or anything "owned by a corporation" whenever we'd go out on the town. He'd make us feel bad for eating at places that didn't meet his ideology, and would just complain like "ok well we can go there, but I just won't eat anything"
suffice to say, he was an asshole

The thing about Walmart is the reason they are able to haggle on product prices with vendors because they are so big and powerful. They can basically call the shots on what they will pay for a given product then pass these good prices onto their customers. But when they do this, the smaller guys can't compete ....and they have to find other reasons (besides price) to get people to shop at their stores. It's a catch-22, you can't have these really low prices without these big corporations existing, who get really low prices on product by buying massive quantities of them.

walmart isnt cheap. always get the entry price / low price item they advertise. rest of the goods are same or higher then other prices.
they get you in with cheap 'everyday low' price and upsell you on other items. I would only go there to buy something that is dirt cheap and walk out.

go buy a yogurt wheatgrass smoothie enema at your local wooden mom and pop guava java stand. You'll really be giving back to the community.

always remember, look out for number one, and be careful not to step in number two.
you gotta do what you gotta do, which is feed your family on a tight budget. It sure beats spending twice as much at a Trader Joes or Whole Foods stores just to you can feel good about yourself for giving twice your money to a less large but still large corporation.

you could always grow your own food. they dont call it "dirt cheap" for nothing.

- they do, but there were a few basics at rock-bottom prices that only walmart hadmikotondria3

yeh, we've just about finished the veges we grew in our little experimental plot. Next year I really want to plough at least half our property and get some quantities growing - I know the soil is good for pretty much anything we planted this year, tomatoes, okra, carrots, etc - we could get 100sq yrds growing quite easily, so we'd at least be able to barter something when noone will take money anymore..
- dude, you know how much tomato seeds are going for these days... .23 CENTS! FUCK THAT!kona
- why i remember when they were a nickel!kona
- looking at doing the same...it's the way of the future :) props man.designbot

I went to Walmart for the first time this summer because the had cheaper bags of mulch than Home Depot. What a mistake that was, they didn't have any heavy duty carts so I had to put 13 bags of bark dust in 2 shopping carts. I had to wait in this line with every dreg of society buying lead tainted toys, poisoned toothpaste and milk. Then to top it off the cashier that clearly wasn't even qualified to work a cash register at Walmart couldn't figure out how to cash in a gift card for someone and had to call a manger. All in all I did save 1 dollar a bag but the pain and suffering wasn't worth it.

did you really save money at walmart? i thought that was BS
- You always save money if you actually know how much things cost and whats real value. Pay cash, always.mikotondria3

That'll show you the best prices weekly at your surrounding stores. It will let you print out coupons and tell you what to stock up on bc it's super cheap, what not to buy bc it's out of season and expensive and when all the sales start.
