i'm a girl so i'll chime in: it's all about confidence. if you look put-together, take her to a great place and plan it all out but seem uncomfortable in your own skin or nervous, you'll fail. be easygoing: it could be fun, it could lead to more or you could make a new friend...don't overthink it, even if you're REALLY attracted to her or really like her. women sense this (desperation) and it's a turn-off. have a good time no matter what, relax, make eye contact, don't look away when she's talking trying to think of something smart to say. be genuine.
this doesn't mean you can't be candid and demonstrate interest in her, who she is, what she does etc. you just can't be too desperate about the whole thing, or too aloof.
i've known really average guys who could pull the hottest women because they were confident, had easy smiles and conversation, were charming and comfortable with themselves just as i've seen really attractive guys act weird and uncomfortable around women and crash and burn.
