Company has software designers, 3D animators / designers, interactive design specialists, graphic designers, web designers, but my role includes Graphic design for Websites, Interactive/useability design for websites and the odd spin off print work like brochures, corporate id, etc.... so you see its a jack of all trades these days... I thinkn traditional Graphic Designer role has changed dramatically

A designer is a designer. If you're designing things, then that makes you a designer. Your boss sounds like an ass, and probably doesn't have anything better to do. If he's so concerned, why doesn't he designate you a title?
