The RNC has all the makings of a spectacular disaster, and they're off to a great start with a last-minute gasp of party dissidence to prevent trump from becoming the nominee.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-n…

"The city of Cleveland ...has released an exhaustive list of banned items at demonstrations within the 1.7-mile regulated “event zone”, including tennis balls, certain types of umbrellas, water guns and glass bottles. But, under Ohio’s open-carry laws, loaded firearms, including long guns, will be allowed at the rallies."

    • no tennis balls? golf balls, baseballs, and squash balls OK?Krassy
    • But you can bring all your guns?monospaced

Christie says Trump gave to Sandy charity, then clarifies

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's spokesman said that the governor misspoke Monday when he cited a donation by presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to Superstorm Sandy relief efforts as a sign of his generosity.

People supporting Trump -- is a form of protest against both parties.
People realize Trump is not fit for presidency, but vote for him anyway because they are fed up with everything

The same motives are behind the Brexit vote.
No one expected that Brexit would win, even the most important activists like Boris Johnson.
People want to distance away from both parties, which are quietly stiffening in senility, but it came out as it did, and now they are tearing their hair out.

If you don't rock the boat, rotten system will rot forever

    • agree.chukkaphob
    • People are not supporting Trump; they're supporting a rebellion against the 2 political parties that no longer serve the interests of the common people.chukkaphob
    • The problem with that is that by electing Trump you actually are electing the Republicans, so it's not really a rebellion against the two parties.yuekit
    • no you are not. Trump is dismantling the GOP. The GOP is in panic mode. You are NOT voting for the GOP if you vote for Trump.chukkaphob
    • And Trump's ideas are too far right for it to just generic anti-establishment. I see it more as an angry wing of conservatives who think the GOP is selling outyuekit
    • their interests, then Trump comes along and promises them everything they want (even though he has no real way of delivering it).yuekit
    • agree with all of this.fadein11
    • Voting for the GOP would have been if say Jeb! was the party nominee.chukkaphob
    • Voting for (the idea of what) Trump (may bring) is voting for getting rid of the political nonsense that has paralyzed both parties.chukkaphob
    • I'm not saying voting for Trump would accomplish any of that promise, but just saying what has mobilized the masses to support him.chukkaphob
    • ...is the idea of rebellion against the establishment, the bureaucracy, and the inability to deliver anything, one way or the other.chukkaphob
    • I'm sure there are some Trump supporters who are more independent, but his policies are like a wish fulfillment fantasy for the right-wing.yuekit
    • Deport immigrants, ban Muslims, etc...what you are saying might make sense if he was proposing serious reforms but he isn't.yuekit
    • He is proposing serious reforms. Just like some of the other 15+ candidates were. Have you not read the actual platform?chukkaphob
    • But the difference is that what resonates with the masses is a non-politician coming in and not hesitating to not play by the rules of the political gameschukkaphob
    • I am not supporting him or the idea of him; just explaining why the idea & promise of what he's about is popular.chukkaphob
    • What serious reforms is he proposing? There are almost no policy details at all, it's just demagoguery as far as I can tell.yuekit
    • Even his signature policies like building the wall, there's no real plan on how to achieve them. How is a Muslim ban going to work? It's all empty promises.yuekit
    • right, just as a I thought -- you have based your opinion solely based on snippets of his nonsensical rhetoric and memes posted on your FB timeline :-Dchukkaphob
    • I bet you have never looked here: https://www.donaldjt…chukkaphob
    • ^ Cmon seriously? There is more text on the front page of QBN than on that site.yuekit
    • The tax and health care plans are very similar to what the Republican party has proposed previously. Same with gun rights.yuekit
    • Too lazy to hit the "Read More" links? C'mon, dude. There's a ton of info! hahaha!chukkaphob
    • And none of it is his ideas or writing; again -- he's just a messenger who's igniting the conservatives because of his don't-give-a-fuck-ab... attitudechukkaphob
    • So we're down to trade and immigration. The idea that you are going to force Mexico to pay to build a wall is laughable.yuekit
    • * "don't give a fuck about politics" attitudechukkaphob
    • But his most consequential policy would be deporting 11 million people. Now notice...that is NOT even mentioned on the website.yuekit
    • How can you propose such a major policy without any plan to carry it out? But that's what you are getting with Trump.yuekit
    • The guy is not smart, brilliant, educated, or intelligent. The guy just comes across as someone who'll take action, unlike other politicians bought by lobbyistschukkaphob
    • Exactly. Non of his nonsensical blunders are part of his platform. He just says stupid stuff without holding back; like a drunk uncle at a BBQ.chukkaphob
    • But his supporters ARE voting based on that. They are going to feel incredibly betrayed if he is elected and doesn't deport the illegals.yuekit
    • And then someone else will come along and promise them the world. And the cycle will start over again :)yuekit
    • Your guess is as good as anyone else's at this point. Only time will show the outcome of this fiasco.chukkaphob
    • His supporters are behind him because A) he expresses some real conservative reforms and B) he's not just another politician who is to be bought. That's all.chukkaphob
    • But he is being bought because he can't really articulate himself without putting his foot in his mouth. Hence asshats like pence speaking for him.monospaced
    • How is he not a politician if his vp choice is the definition of far right establishment who opposes trump on many things?monospaced
    • You've also referenced trumps platform. Which one is that?monospaced
    • ffs, are we here to make friends or are we here to WIN!!?GeorgesII
    • Mono, I don't follow, man. Hahaha! He's bought because he can't articulate? Wut? He's a politician because his VP is far right? wut? LOLchukkaphob
    • His platform? Linked up above. Here it is again:

      https://www.donaldjt…

    • Georges, the time is now not to unite the parties, but to unite the country --- the greatest nation on earth: U.S.A. :-Dchukkaphob
