"i actually believe in redistribution at least at a certain level so that everybody's got a shot"
ignoring the fact that the clip provided cuts off there, disallowing any elaboration or clarification that may or may not have happened, what's wrong with this quote. Tell me exactly what is wrong with the notion of pooling the resources of all Americans so that all Americans can have a shot at making it on their own.
What's the alternative? If you don't come from a family with money or you have a calamity that saps your resources and or prevents you from being able to work, you are fucked? Please will your meager possessions to the nearest wealthy person to make acquisitions smoother? Are you truly advocating for a survival of the financially fittest in terms of the lives of your fellow countrymen? Or are they not Americans if they don't have wealth?
Fucking ridiculous

Redistribution scares people (mainly rich people).
The issue with any notion of idea of redistribution is that it is a reset in wealth. People who have worked hard to make themselves wealthy are penalized for working that hard. In addition, distribution assumes that everyone will work equally hard and take full advantage of their new found opportunity which is rarely the case.
What motivation is there to achieve if what ever you worked on gets taken away when you are at a certain point?
This is rather different from corrective taxation based on income.

Obama is proposing is not renewing the Bush tax cuts only for 250k+ earners. That's the extent of his "redistributionism"
It is more of a meme that conservatives want to push, making Obama into a scary communist when in fact he's the same as Clinton on policy.

Everyone has a shot already. A large amount of new millionaires in this country come from poverty. People have 24 hours to make something. Question is why some are successful and other are not? This economic crisis is a wealth distribution crisis..
From Middle class to large corporations. All of Obamas actions do not align with his talk. Obama administration is basically Bush in disguise.ON paper yeah it sounds tempting. but in action you will have something totally different.

And while we're delving into the video archives, why don't we watch (@:50) as Mitt's mom tells a reporter how welfare gave Mitt's family an opportunity to make it in this country

"A large amount of new millionaires in this country come from poverty."
I think that is false.
- i'm sure yuri can come up with some solid specific examples, right?locustsloth
- Zuckerburg waited tables to put him self through Harvard before dropped out2002

"This economic crisis is a wealth distribution crisis.. "

It doesnt matter who you vote for in the long run. This is the metaphoric equivalent of what you get.
Obama- Quick Death.
Romney- You get a cigarette maybe last meal before you Go.Its just a matter of time. Your printing money QE3, with increasing debt looming.
Only other distraction is another war or a false flag.
- 20020
Ok lets say Obama is a quick death.
What is Romney's plan? I still dont see any detailed plans.
- Exactly. Still waiting for definitive plans to consider. Would also help voters judge a first term.hellobotto

All I hear from Romney is...
"Trust me I am a rich guy and I worked in finance"

"A large amount of new millionaires in this country come from poverty."
First...sources? Not saying it isn't true, but would like to read the non-partisan studies...could be informative.
Second, if they're in the U.S. and in poverty, there's a good chance they're receiving assistance fully or in part from government programs. I know this because a good number of the folks in my life who are really struggling are receiving assistance in some form. Which brings me to...
Third, unless you've found yourself in poverty. I mean you're a grown adult and in poverty, you don't know what it's like and hope you don't ever find out what it's truly like.
The poor aren't zoo animals. Stop dismissing them as such.
And if you have found yourself in dire straits, and was fortunate to rise above without any help, congrats on a job well done. Your story will be inspiring. Hopefully it gives you the perspective needed to exercise greater patience with those who weren't able, aren't able, or for some reason unwilling, take that step up.
- I been in poverty and what helps is first cleansing all the bull people are told about how things work.yurimon
- As well as all the bull "if I could do it, you should be able to." Thinking one's experience is...hellobotto
- ...an absolute prescription devalues the unique efforts you exerted in your own situation.hellobotto
- So whats the difference between thos who do and dont?yurimon
- You're asking for a simple answer to explain the differences in individual psyches...hellobotto
- ...and how to unify them, or explain them. I wish I had that answer.hellobotto

Where is Obamas plan? Over the past 4 years... still no budget and no plan. What a joke and you ask for Romney to have a detailed plan, like Obama has one.
- The (unfair) benefit of incumbency. And in this case, Obama's not prescribing a replacement...hellobotto
- ...plan. Romney is. So what is the counter argument, in detail? Give it up.hellobotto
- So it can be put next to the absence of Obama's.hellobotto

Here is a start.
Go research amongst yourselves...- This doesnt qualify as poverty. It states that they werent millionaires before they became one2002
- Agree with 2002. "Not wealthy" doesn't equal "in poverty." Perception validating perception.hellobotto
