First...sources? Not saying it isn't true, but would like to read the non-partisan studies...could be informative.
Second, if they're in the U.S. and in poverty, there's a good chance they're receiving assistance fully or in part from government programs. I know this because a good number of the folks in my life who are really struggling are receiving assistance in some form. Which brings me to...
Third, unless you've found yourself in poverty. I mean you're a grown adult and in poverty, you don't know what it's like and hope you don't ever find out what it's truly like.
The poor aren't zoo animals. Stop dismissing them as such.
And if you have found yourself in dire straits, and was fortunate to rise above without any help, congrats on a job well done. Your story will be inspiring. Hopefully it gives you the perspective needed to exercise greater patience with those who weren't able, aren't able, or for some reason unwilling, take that step up.
