And in case no one clicked through on that link, this is what the Republican led Congress is officially highlighting:
"$3.65 billion for Space Exploration which is $152 million below last year. This includes funding above the request for NASA to meet Congressionally mandated program deadlines for the newly authorized crew vehicle and launch system.
$4.1 billion for Space Operations which is $1.4 billion below last year’s level. The legislation will continue the closeout of the Space Shuttle program for a savings of $1 billion."
So they are underfundng the future plans of manned space flight, and proclaiming a "savings" by closing out the Shuttle Program.
So how does that jive with your "OH NOES OBAMA HATEZ AMERICA AND IS KILLING THE FUTURE" Murdoch led agitprop?
Here's the answer in a nutshell, because you're ability to critically think is demonstrably challenged, I'll spell it out for you real simple like: It's does not jive.

Just outta curiosity, why do the Dems have to concede anything in what is an apparent routine government occurence?
Question - if a Dems had congress during a Republican administration - say Reagen, Bush or Bush 2 would the Repub administration concede shit fundamentally opposed to it's principles to get it rised - like I dunno agreeing to raise the corporate income tax rates? I bet we know what the answer is. And the Dems would be labelled "anti-american" if they did so.

Whos cares how parties are labeled. The labeling and posturing isnt anything accept power grab that both parties participate in even on the flipside. Hell both want you to focus on party rhetoric. Look here at us not at what we're doing. If one party loses both win collectively, some individual politcians may lose, but collectivily another sacrificial pig will fall into rank and take their place and he'll play the game in hopes hes not as quickly taken out.
Real issue is raising credit limit to cover costs expenditures and future policy. If they vote to raise it, and they will like every other time historically depicted.. will they really focus on controlling spending or easing the fallout? Historically it has shown they havent. And with the current prez's plans for spending on healthcare and social types of reform + war efforts, is it statistically possible that spending will be controlled. It doesnt seem so to me.
What can the common man do. Not much. Vox populi prefers to be entertained with idiots and their miss sayings on network tv. Much like if there favorite teams rival fumbled a easy pass. So much more entertaining to sneer and laugh. Gives a sense of self satisfaction i guess. Democracy always fails when trite shit is sold as grand opera. Ram doesnt like csnaps posts and yet posts same crap opposite team. Is it hypocrisy? Or is it personal value systems in what matters? Does a verbal snafu from a rival team have more value than your own team? If so why, and ever thought about?
Take for instance Ram would liek u to vote for michele bachmann because she is apparently an idiot. What good is to come from voting for idiots. Well of course u want people to vote becuase a weak player against your team insures a likelier success. Is that what democracy is to people. Debasing onesides team to get yours on so you can party. Wouldnt it be healthier to have two sides that are intelligent debating it out for the best results. Can we expect to get the best when we prefer the most entertaining and gives us self satisfaction when opposite teams fuck up. Last i checked both parties are representatives of the same team. We short a side we get shorted. Laughs on us.
All i can suggest is worry less on foreign affairs, as much as possible to keep our plac ein line, and focus on growth through education. Fuck no child left behind. If u put all interest in the dumbest than the brightest fail and we'll get level of mediocre idiots. But than again people liek that becuase its equality.Perhaps kill teacher unions and look at public funds. If public funding incentives lead to corruption and fake test scores to secure salaries than thats not good. Could cutback on public funding and try incentives to grow private education more. Let responsibility of the growth of a child fall back on parents and community more. People have forgotten what it means to be responsible. Hell peopel teach their kids that its not lack for ability or effort, but others that hold them back. They blame everyone and anyone. The lack of responsibility only breeds more voters demanding more handouts and bad voters. Education is key and the public school systems suck. Incentives are completely reversed. Seems like the worst u do the more funding u get.
Thats the only possible solution i can seem to find in discourse on ugly politics. Always gets me melancoly feelign whne i get sucked into idiocy of political debate, time and time again i never learn. it is quite addicting to dispell poor theories and ideas and lose focus of the real issues. when really there is no cure by claiming what policy to vote on, or worse team to stand behind. They sell food as poison and the cure as poison. Real reform isnt in healthcare or war but in the education. Just gotta worry more on the basics than this other shit.
- The problem is you talk about not being partisan and at the same time advocate the most far right solutions.ukit
- perhaps its you focusing on labeling solutions instead of looking at possible best solutions.********
- whatever solution i think is best will likely fall on onside of spectrum. why i say dont focus on team stuff********
- jsut look purely at solution and motivations/incentiv... and possible outcomes********
- if it helps u on team front im pro-choice, pro gay marriage. I think tax paid roads through gas tax is good. war is bad.********
- everything im for or agaisnt is on oneside or another. however the philsophy guiding them is all the same********
- i will admit i comment more against lame liberal wargarble than reps. Personally i find the liberal more threatening********
- Statisitcs state they have more money and more edu. That means more capable slingers of garbage philosophy********
- They state it better with bigger words and logical fallicies. Reps have more angelic faith hillbilly gun tote types. They scar me less on policy front********

Unfortunately I think many people are being fooled and misinformed on the debt issue. If you listen to the Tea Party, you would have the impression that the massive increase in the debt recently is the inevitable result of entitlements and other middle class programs. If you buy into the line of reasoning that the entire system is unsustainable, then I guess it makes a certain amount of sense to not raise the debt limit and let the cards fall where they may.
But the truth is, we didn't have a debt as recently as when Jimmy Carter was President. You can point to very specific policy choices that led us down this path - the Reagan tax cuts in the 80s, the Bush tax cuts, the Iraq War and then the financial crisis. Amazingly enough, when you deprive the government of revenue without cutting spending, engage in expensive wars without accounting for them in the budget at all, or a massive recession hits and tax revenues drop, the result is a huge increase in the debt.
Ironically Republicans supported essentially all of those policies which ended up creating the debt. Then they turn around and argue that funding a normal society is somehow unsustainable when all evidence points to exactly the opposite.
Those are the real issues involved. And I hate to say it, but in this case one side really is worse than the other. You can blame the liberals for not doing a better job for standing up to the other side or for being complacent and continuing their policies, but it's really been Reagan and Bush economics that have bankrupted the U.S. over the past 30 years.
- yea they didnt help much with borrow and spend. even prez voted against debt ceilings with bush if im right. now theyre doing the same.********
- doing the same. its that its bad whne your team does it but ok when i do. and peopel get caught up in it********
- what was it liek 200 bil revenue a motn and borroing 130 bil to cover others costs. thats bad. really soemthign needs to be done********

- i think its better to be hit now and control until it gets out of hand. its hypothecial on amount of damage now or later, but thats the best solution as i see it********
- later but thats the way i see it. sure i could be wrong. and there really isnt a way to tell. that unknown like heaven and hell is being sold********
- hell is being sold********
- we can disagree on that, and do it amicably but we shouldnt get into parties.********
- i share your concern about who gets hurt the most. and the what is the greater good. i fall back on philosophy, not politcial phil to make choices********

1. SuperPACs
2. Boehner's, Cantor's and McConnell's posturing on the debt ceiling in light of the last 20-30 years debt ceiling increases by the GOP
3. Welfare funding cuts alongside a denial of any tax increases for the rich (the justification for this position is utterly ridiculous imo)
4. The ridiculous number of filibusters by the GOP in the last 12-18 months bringing effective lawmaking almost to a standstill when it is intended as a political mechanism only to be used in the rarest of circumstances. These are all reasons why I'm very worried for you America, I don't know how you're going to fix this (particularly your democracy turning into a plutocracy), and I really don't want severe damage to the fabric of your country to be the wake-up call that it needs, but I'm not sure I see any other way now. The GOP position, to a rational and informed member of the public, must surely be completely untenable?? I think it still stuns a lot of the rest of us.
I hope there is a Romney/Bachman 2012 attempt, I expect it would fail while still leaving the GOP with a small piece of self-respect, and also be sufficiently bad to give the Dems back the mandate and the majorities it needs to make some of these much-needed changes to your system.
PS. it's great to see some relatively civil discourse going on in here, I really like to see the politics thread in motion on QBN.

"Republican Candidate" Extends Lead vs. Obama to 47% to 39%
Margin marks first statistically significant lead among registered voters
http://www.gallup.com/poll/14848…
PRINCETON, NJ -- Registered voters by a significant margin now say they are more likely to vote for the "Republican Party's candidate for president" than for President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, 47% to 39%. Preferences had been fairly evenly divided this year in this test of Obama's re-election prospects.- Now only if the RNC could locate Mr. Candidate and convince him to run...hellobotto

All you retards who intellectually think you're "above the fray" pointing out how stupid everyone else is playing the "left/right" game all do so from the comfort of your fucking armchairs. You're not in the game. Once you start playing with power you have to choose allies. That's the way the system works. Fucking pot smoking libertarians are the fucking worst. Yeah, the Left/Right paradigm is bullshit, but it's what you have to wrok with...anyone walks out onto the field thinking they can ignore it because it's "stupid" will get mowed down like any idiot who wanders out on a battlefield thinking that bullets can't hit them. Good luck with that.
Get dirty. Make a stand. Your psuedo-intellectual bullshit neutral stance has nothing to do with how power works.
Again - sure Left/Right is to an extent bullshit. It's window dressing at this point. But ignoring it is equally unrealistic and stupid as that is how power is expressed and used.

Looks like the Tea Party may get their wish..
http://www.washingtonpost.com/na…
Obama administration officials have been privately exploring with major banks and foreign investors whether the government could devise a way to avoid a severe disruption in financial markets if the federal debt ceiling is not raised, according to several people familiar with the matter.
But the message back from the market has been discouraging: The failure to pay any significant obligations would scare away investors and undermine the financial system.
The market concerns were underscored late Thursday when the credit-rating agency Standard & Poor’s announced there was a 50 percent chance it would downgrade the United States in the next three months — and perhaps as soon as the end of this month.
S&P said it was losing confidence that U.S. officials would raise the debt ceiling and also produce a plan to rein in the federal debt over the coming years. The agency said a failure to raise the debt ceiling would force the government to withhold payments to bond investors or sharply cut government spending, which could cripple the economy.
“The positions of the administration and the Republican leadership are still very far apart,” said John Chambers, S&P managing director. “The tone of the debate has made us wonder whether a compromise can be achieved.”
The Treasury discussions are part of emergency planning to deal with the fallout from a U.S. default that could occur Aug. 3 if President Obama and Congress do not strike an agreement to raise the federal limit on borrowing.
For the first time, the White House acknowledged Thursday that it had begun these preparations. Press secretary Jay Carney said that “it would be irresponsible not to” have a plan, without discussing specifics.
