Waste of time maybe, but this thread was never openly racist until JazX and "cnaps1790" showed up
- how is that racist? I'm reporting the news that exists and commenting on it? Amazing...********

- ...that 90% of your posts have to do with Mexicans and Muslims. I guess that has nothing to do with your personal views on race.********

Presidential contender Bachmann talks about Revolutionary History In N.H.:
"What I love about New Hampshire and what we have in common is our extreme love for liberty," the potential GOP presidential candidate said. "You're the state where the shot was heard around the world in Lexington and Concord. And you put a marker in the ground and paid with the blood of your ancestors the very first price that had to be paid to make this the most magnificent nation that has ever arisen in the annals of man in 5,000 years of recorded history."

^^
I think the next paragraph is important, with regards to the post above:"In fact, the 1775 Battles of Lexington and Concord that marked the first military engagements of the American Revolution took place in Massachusetts. But Bachmann did not correct her error when she referenced the battles again later in her speech."
It's somewhat frustrating that this is a leading politician in today's discourse. It's troubling that this is the kind of intellect that rises to become a major play. But what's even more troubling is that media outlets continue to give people like her plenty of air time to show their ignorance.
I'm just not sure if the media is doing its job by letting Bachmann's foolishness parade around (e.g. Christine O'Donnell), or if it's doing damage to the country by showing that you don't have to be that bright or thorough—or frankly, know what you're talking about—in order to rise to serve in high offices in the land.
Here's hoping for a better future.

Earlier in the week, David Brooks touched on what I believe is at the core of how and why lightweights (on both sides) have risen to prominence.
The Modesty Manifesto
By DAVID BROOKS
Published: March 10, 2011
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/1…"...there’s abundant evidence to suggest that we have shifted a bit from a culture that emphasized self-effacement — I’m no better than anybody else, but nobody is better than me — to a culture that emphasizes self-expansion."
"I wonder if the rise in partisanship is influenced in part by a narcissistic sense that, “I know how the country should be run and anybody who disagrees with me is just in the way.”
"Most pervasively, I wonder if there is a link between a possible magnification of self and a declining saliency of the virtues associated with citizenship."
"Citizenship, after all, is built on an awareness that we are not all that special but are, instead, enmeshed in a common enterprise. Our lives are given meaning by the service we supply to the nation. I wonder if Americans are unwilling to support the sacrifices that will be required to avert fiscal catastrophe in part because they are less conscious of themselves as components of a national project."
We could all look into this...especially here on this thread.
- garbage as generalization. but taken apart and analyzed it has decent arguments********
- as a whole it seems to promote a collectiism mentality while negating wether the individual ego is earned. a good counter point to collective liberal philosophy though********

UNBELIEVABLE. Union leaders caught on audio IN THEIR OWN WORDS using economic terrorism and violence to promote a political idealogy (communism) and for monetary gain starting in the month of may.
These same officials have been having weekly meetings at the white house with the full support of the Terrorist Leader Barack Hussein Obama.
You still think Obama is on the peoples side?
A free world?
A safe environment for future? His eyes say it all. Evil.
Our government and the unions have now become a terrorist group directly targeting the well being of American Citizens for financial and political gain.
If you do not start acting and thinking for yourself instead of following the useful idiots like you have been told to - your life, way of life, future and family are in grave danger.
We are dealing with psycho paths. You can only be on one side. Good vs Evil. Using terrorism and violence for monetary or political gain is EVIL.
Think before you respond. If you only have HATE to say, you're brainwashed into your responses. However, even the most educated here haven't realized that.

CARACAS (Reuters) – Capitalism may be to blame for the lack of life on the planet Mars, Venezuela's socialist President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday.
"I have always said, heard, that it would not be strange that there had been civilization on Mars, but maybe capitalism arrived there, imperialism arrived and finished off the planet," Chavez said in speech to mark World Water Day.
