Police say nearly 70,000 people have converged on the Wisconsin Capitol to join in protests over a Republican bill that would strip public workers of most of their collective bargaining rights.
According to the Madison Police Department, 60,000 people gathered outside the building with another 8,000 inside on Saturday — easily the largest crowd yet as the protest stretched through its fifth day. The demonstration was far more intense on Saturday, though, as hundreds of tea party supporters staged a counter rally outside the Capitol.
Police spokesman Joel DeSpain says there have been no arrests. He refused to say how large the tea party contingent was, but union supporters clearly outnumbered them.

House GOP pushes through historic spending cuts
http://www.washingtontimes.com/n…Flexing their new large majority in the House, Republicans early Saturday morning pushed through a bill that cuts more than $61 billion from last year’s spending levels, setting up a showdown with Senate Democrats, who have vowed to block it, and President Obama, who has said he’ll veto it.
The bill, which funds the government for the rest of fiscal 2011, marks the deepest dollar-amount discretionary spending cuts in history, and Republicans said it makes good on their campaign promise to return spending to pre-stimulus levels.
---
O'bummer can veto it all he wants, it makes him look stupid as fuck. The economy is in the shitter, and saving money is the way to go, not spending it insanely. Have fun next 2012 in this shit state of affairs there Mr. President.

I guess I don't get what's wrong with calling Israel's settlements illegal? They ARE illegal under UN law, its not really a question of interpretation or opinion.
The idea that we can't question anything Israel's government does is idiotic thinking. I'm glad to see the U.S. slowly moving away from that policy.
Also if you are really concerned about Muslim extremism the best way to counter it would be to move towards giving Palestinians their own state. Israel is facing a demographic reality that will make Palestinians a majority sooner or later.

Video: Qaradawi speaks in Cairo
http://pajamasmedia.com/tatler/2…
Looking at the video of Muslim Brotherhood leader Yusuf Al- Qaradawi’s speech on Friday in Cairo courtesy MEMRI, I’m struck but hardly surprised by two things. One, the incredible size of the crowd. Even Obama, at the height of his drawing power, had to have the Decemberists as his opening act to get that kind of crowd assembled and energized.Secondly, what Qaradawi says is shrewd and chilling. He has been exiled for his radicalism for about 30 years now, and when he returns it’s as if he has a lot of radical things to say, all pent up and ready to burst.

And I thought American conservatives were pro democracy. Judging by endless talk about the Tea Partes, Founding Fathers and the Constitution
So why are so many of them so weak when it comes to advocating Middle East democracy. Is it because there are scary brown-skinned people in that part of the world?
- it's dem mooslams ya hear!BusterBoy
- nope, it's because of their relationship with Israel. Whole knowing some nasty shit will come about with this********
