Via Manolith:
Remember when Sarah Palin said that her children were off-limits to the media, because she was a mama lion who wanted to hunt gazelles, or something to that effect? Yeah. Screw that.
Bristol Palin is the world’s favored white-trash offspring, famous for having a baby that was spun into political hoo-rah, a marriage that failed, and an ex that wound up posing for Playboy. Basically, if this were the 1950’s, nobody would care about her. But because politics is a ballyhooed media engagement now, she’s signed a contract that’ll allow her to garner more than 30,000 dollars per speaking arrangement. Per speaking arrangement. She’s getting paid 30,000 per speaking arrangement. At a company called Single Source Speakers. The only higher-paid name on their roster?
Drew Brees, NFL Quarterback, and Superbowl MVP.
So Drew Brees has been spending his entire life trying not to have men take his legs out from under him. Because Bristol Palin let someone twist hers over her head and put a baby inside her, she has a career talking about abstinence.
It’d be comical, if it weren’t tragic that so many other people are struggling to find work. And because she’s had her picture in a few papers, she’s now totally qualified to talk about a subject that she didn’t practice and has statistically proven to be completely ineffective.
I can’t wait to see which organizations are poorly-managed enough to actually book her.

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee addressed the spill at a hearing Wednesday where leading Republicans including John Mica of Florida sought to pin blame on President Barack Obama's administration....
...Outlining what he called the "Obama oil spill timeline," Mica said the administration failed to heed warnings about the need for more regulation and issued "basically a carte blanche recipe for disaster" in approving drilling by the Deepwater Horizon, leased by oil giant BP PLC, and several dozen other wells...
"This went on and on," he said. "I'm not going to point fingers at BP, the private industry, when it's government's responsibility to set the standards."
Drill baby drill...

BIG SURPRISE HERE!
Wall Street reform fails test..
"Wall Street and, obviously, 39 out of 41 Republicans ... think that things going on, on Wall Street, are just fine."
The vote was 57 to 42. Under Senate rules, Democrats needed 60 votes to move ahead to a final vote. Two Democrats opposed the bill, and two Republicans voted for it.

Oh Los Angeles...
Mayor Villaragosa says, 'I am also strongly supporting the effort led by Councilmember Janice Hahn to boycott the State of Arizona.'
Arizona (who provides 25% of LA's power): 'In a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Arizona Corporation Commissioner Gary Pierce said a boycott war is bad for both sides, and said he would "be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements" to end the electricity flowing to Los Angeles.
"I am confident that Arizona's utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands," Mr. Pierce said. "If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona's economy." '
Spokesperson for Villaragosa: 'The mayor won't respond to threats'
hahhaaha.. who threatened who first??
'We're going to wreck your economy!'
'Okay fine we'll cut off your power.'
'Don't threaten us!!!'

Memo from 2002 could complicate challenge of Arizona immigration law
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp…"The Justice Department's official position as of now is that local law enforcement has the inherent authority to enforce federal immigration law," said Robert Driscoll, a former Justice Department Civil Rights Division official in the George W. Bush administration who represents an Arizona sheriff known for aggressive immigration enforcement. "How can you blame someone for exercising authority that the department says they have?"

"Republican Senate nominee Rand Paul – and the GOP leaders newly lashed to him – are scrambling to control the damage from interviews in which he’s questioned whether the government should prevent private businesses from discriminating against racial minorities.
There was no rush in Washington to lend Paul a hand. Instead, GOP leaders seemed more anxious to ensure that the Senate candidate didn't hijack the party's message and send it back 45 years."
Oh man that's not good...this guy had so much potential too. His dad is Ron Paul...and his name is Rand.

Mexican President Denounces Arizona Law Despite Laws Against Illegal Immigration in His Own Country
http://www.conapo.gob.mx/transpa…
By contrast, Mexican immigration law, revised in 2009, gives Mexican officials the right to check people’s immigration status, and if someone is found to be in the country illegally, they can be fined and deported. The law also requires foreigners to register with the government.
