Ukit,
Overly optimistic view of what regulators can accomplish eh? So, using the story above, a lot of people realized what Magnetar was doing, a lot of people could see how this could be extremely damaging. What you're saying is that over the years that Magnetar was doing this, if there was a regulating body that was more focused on oversight then they too wouldn't have been able to sound the alarm? Doesn't the FDA test drugs BEFORE they kill people? Doesn't the FBI and CIA listen to 'chatter' so they can try and stop people who plan to kill? Do you think that what the FDA, FBI and CIA along with a couple hundred other government agencies does is a Supermanish feat? But no you're right. Create a set of rules and then update those rules after someone has found a way around them. Super cool idea, good luck with that. Magnetar loves your idea in about 8 billion ways. ;)
As I said before and I'll go ahead and do it again in all caps because I think your eyesight is going.. FUCK YES WE NEED PERMANENT RULES OF SOME KIND!! I AGREE WITH YOU 100%!!! WHO IS ARGUING THAT POINT?? NOT ME!!! IF SOMEONE WAS ARGUING THAT POINT I'LL POKE THEM IN THE FUCKING EYE ALONG WITH YOU!! :)

- It really is impressive how the Reps have been able to convince people that the current economic turmoil is because of the Democrats and the poor. Yet...IRNlun6

Text message case shows Roberts court's ignorance of technology
The first sign was about midway through the argument, when Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. - who is known to write out his opinions in long hand with pen and paper instead of a computer - asked what the difference was “between email and a pager?”
At one point, Justice Anthony Kennedy asked what would happen if a text message was sent to an officer at the same time he was sending one to someone else.
“Does it say: ‘Your call is important to us, and we will get back to you?’” Kennedy asked.
Justice Antonin Scalia wrangled a bit with the idea of a service provider.
You mean (the text) doesn’t go right to me?” he asked.
- It's frightening to me that someone so ignorant about technology is making decisions that effect our use of technology.Josev

The British Consevative Party wants you to think they aren't panicking about the sudden surge in support for Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats, However, David Cameron decided yesterday to scrap his party's planned TV election broadcast (an attack on Gordon Brown) and replace it at the last minute with the following warning against a "hung parliament" where no one holds a majority (the likely result of a LibDem surge). So, despite the pleas to the contrary, we now have video evidence that Team Cameron is in full-fledged panic.
