Here's a more common sense democrat article on healthcare. Only 2 pages into its 6 so far. Got grab some morning brew. But this guy seems to be more of a critical thinker then just spouting the same over and over nonsense mantras that are fed by tv's new networks.

OK, I'm just posting this in this thread because it's important. Otherwise I'm staying relatively clear of this thread. I don't want to get into moronic arguments about nazis, commies, death panels, and the danger the US president presents to school children with his words.

No, as of today one, ONE private company will now hold the monopoly on counting the majority of votes cast in every state and federal election. I don't give a flying fuck if you are republican, democrat, a raving Ron Paul or Kucinich supporter, this is utterly unacceptable. I don't care if you think that the 200 or 2004 or 2008 elections were stolen. This is not about partisanship, but rather the fundamental trust and integrity of our voting procedures.

Anyway, Elections Systems & Software Inc. purchased Diebold today for $5 million dollar, thus giving it control of over 50% of all voting machines in the country.

The very potential for maleficence and conflict of interest should preclude this being a lawful acquisition, let alone safety and oversight issues.

    http://www.cleveland.com/busines…

No, but go ahead and keep arguing about how the government kills your grandma or whatever shiny distraction the PR flacks and media throw at you thinking your discussing "politics". The oligarchy now has a price tag on every election in the country - $5million. A fucking bargain.

    • Who cares,
do you really think your votes counts?

"This acquisition is an opportunity to continue fulfilling our company's core mission of maintaining voter confidence, and enhancing the voting experience," said Aldo Tesi, ES&S's president and chief executive, in a written statement announcing the acquisition. "We are committed to meeting current and future needs for voting system solutions and services and providing better solutions to our customers."

Why is voting - a primary action in every democratic civil society handled by private companies who keep their technologies hidden behind non-disclosure agreements and patents?? They talk like they're selling fucking soap or a new mp3 player. "Enhancing the voting experience"? Give me a fucking break.

We are so far down the shitter. Sorry. Big giant cloud of unshakable despair hangs above my head.

The more I hear and read about the machinations going on in the US of A, the more I see a country ripe for major civil unrest. There just seems to be such a polarisation, much of it perpetuated by Fox and the looney right.

I mean, what's the shit trying to associate Obama's education message with the Hitler youth. I mean come on...the problem here is that the uneducated masses hear the names "Obama" and "Hitler" in the same sentence and suddenly Obama is a fucken Nazi. It is just crazy.

It's the same with the word "Socialism" being bandied about. It's all just bullshit and I'm not sure it's something the USA can recover from any time soon. From a distance it seems so ingrained in your society that I just can't imagine it changing.

Am I way off the mark here?

^ What killed me with this whole speech debacle was hearing on NPR that schools were getting hundreds of calls complaining about it... but they all said the same thing. THE SAME EXACT WORDS (more or less)! Like little fuckin' wind up toys that Hannity and Beck have toddle off to do their bidding.
When people can be that easily swayed, without ever questioning the info or researching it themselves (especially when the info is a google search away), it portends the beginning of the end of how we live our lives.

I think the top 1% of the world figured out that is they control public opinion in America they can pretty much impose their will on everyone. So they spend a lot of money influencing public opinion here, kind of like some guy in a small town buying off the town drunk.
