Automakers' Jobs Bank Program Pays Laid-Off Workers to Do Nothing
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/…Thousands of laid-off auto workers get paid $31 an hour to sit around and do nothing all year under a controversial program that could continue even if American taxpayers bail out the American auto industry.
"Basically, the contracts have to allow us to align the Detroit companies' costs with Honda," Morici said, pointing to the $72 an hour that the average Detroit 3 worker receives, compared to the $44 an hour that the non-unionized employees make at Japanese car plants in America.
---------
D*mn, it must be nice to be in a union~! $31/hr, $44/hr, $72/hr
- How in God's name do you make $72/hr as a factory worker!? That's just crazy.********
- It's BS argument. They're including benefits nd pensions over a lifetime and pulling an average. Nice try Fox capitalist pigs.TheBlueOne
- And these massive payouts to average workers are helping these companies!?********
- Before taxes. $72/hr = ~$150K per year. Nice factory worker job.********
- even factoring in the perks, it's crazy. GM is a pension company which makes cars on the side. explains the quality.sputnik2

A fiery Czech is poised to be the face of Europe

Venezuela's Chavez welcomes Russian warships
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081…Russian warships arrived off Venezuela's coast today in a show of strength aimed at the United States as Moscow seeks to expand its influence in Latin America.

Klaus has called for a second IPCC to support his views on climate chage.... We are still waiting....
It will be interesting to see what he can do through the 6 month presidency.
- lowimpakt0
The interesting thing about the EU is that we can have a stated euro-skeptic as the charge on the 6 months presidency rotation.

Dear QBN,
Please change the title of this thread to "Reasons why JazX Hates Obama" because it's no longer about politics, it's just rightwing talking points as copy and pasted by this bigot.
- And you're insane and don't like Obama's choices, nor can accept any criticism. Makes sense why you vote Dem.********

Please QBN
Feel free to delete the thread, the less hypocrisy the better.
- hahaa true. Like this thread hasn't been populated by 90% Blind Obama Love Machine posts for the last 3 months.tommyo
- because I suported a candidate over another, I am involved in a love fest. lose that meme already...DrBombay
- I'm just laughing about how JazX has less of a social right on here to post his stuff vs yours. It is hypocrisy.tommyo
- I'm not siding with his points, but I don't really side with yours either so it's funny to watch from where I sit.tommyo
- absolutely********
- there aren't always 2 equal sides to every argument.DrBombay
- lowimpakt0
but Jaz. you're not really stating an opinion or a point of view that can be discussed. posting random links doesn't make sense.
I have just about tried to understand where you sit politically and all I have so far is that you are a slightly paranoid, proto-racist minarchist.
- Random links? For the most past they are criticism of Obama's campaign as well as who he's chosen...********
- as well as what other world leader's think of him. Or in many cases don't think of him********

it's very easy to feel that you are making a point by posting other peoples thoughts and make snide remarks about how other people vote but it is hard for other people to understand. hence the amount of vitriol you create.
- my point is that you don't really have a point.lowimpakt
- pointy pointylowimpakt
- Of course I have a point, I don't think Obama is qualifed not experienced enough to do the job and is a liar.********
- CHANGE my f*cking @ss, he named a bunch of Clintonites. Many of whom have ties corrupt entities such as Citi********
- And as if you do have a point? Why even show up if you don't like the thread. Leave.********

As if you guys just blantantly type what you think on each issue, etc. More than half of the sh*t you post is in reference to an online article.
Please.... don't make me laugh.
- TheBlueOne0
Please do, go on JazX. I have been more balanced about political issues. I don't suck Obama's cock the way you do the Republicans. Because I have a degree and some integrity in the area. You just repeat crap like the trained dog without doing any research or understanding. You and your little copy and pasted rants ARE the root cause of the problem with politics in the US...replacing facts with absolute bullshit.
Like you're little outrage over the "Oh look the Union Workers get $70 an hour!" Yeah, how about doing some research behind it, like this:
"The average GM assembly-line worker makes about $28 per hour in wages, and I can assure you that GM is not paying $42 an hour in health insurance and pension plan contributions. Rather, the $70 per hour figure (or $73 an hour, or whatever) is a ridiculous number obtained by adding up GM's total labor, health, and pension costs, and then dividing by the total number of hours worked. In other words, it includes all the healthcare and retirement costs of retired workers. "
WHether you think Labor issues are problem in the US or not, the way to address it is to look at the facts and not distort shit. But, no continue with your little delusional world view cause you're all about stroking your cock and getting a hardon inciting your little outrage there.
Dude, that shit is so over. You that shit, from the left or right, is part of the problem, not the solution. We have real problems and need real solutions. But go ahead continue being a dick. It's not like it isn't obvious to anyone with eyes.
By the way saying I radically dislike you is an vast fucking understatement.
- LOL********
- You love to point at the problems, but offer no real solutions.********
- and neither do you, fuckfaceDrBombay

^^ yet again, you're full of sh*t, I never stated that the $72/hr was take home. I know my own employees enough to know that. Of course, there are other costs involved. Regardless, it's raping the h*ll out of those companies and now we the tax players are supposed to bail them out@!?
And never have I ever sucked Rep c*ock, but according to you I have. Go back in your little liberal hiding place and when you're ready to come out and tackle the "real world" you might be of some f*cking use.

Lowimpakt is right, JazX, you don't know European politics that well. Klaus is probably the only leading politician in Europe who openly advocates personal freedom, opposes EU centralization and warns against global warming hysteria. (UK's Tories don't count).
http://www.klaus.cz/klaus2/asp/c…
http://www.klaus.cz/klaus2/asp/c…Meanwhile ECB chief Trichet predicts negative growth for Eurozone.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/busine…I liked the Mandelbrot interview TBO posted. Systems fail from time to time. Every complex system fails at some point. If you have a global system, you will have a global failure.
It applies to Europe as well. If a single country fails (like Iceland), the whole system still goes on. Some day the system called EU (that doesn't even legally exist until Lisbon Treaty is signed) will fail. This will be a disaster.Ireland voted Lisbin Treaty down just like French and Dutch did before it was even called that (it was EU constitution). It is dead, legally after the Irish referendum. However, everyone expects it to be reformulated and thrown on the Irish again. Rinse and repeat until they vote right.
Imagine Bush declaring people weren't informed well enough and saying they need to vote for president again.
This is exactly what's happening here now. A government with ridiculously low support will force Lisbon Treaty on people again.- I never said I did. I just thought it was hilarious that he called out Al Gore. Ha!********
- I never said I did. I just thought it was hilarious that he called out Al Gore. Ha!

"We must remember that governments do not produce anything. Their only resources come from producers in the economy through such means as inflation and taxation. The government has an obligation to be good stewards of these resources. In bailing out failing companies, they are confiscating money from productive members of the economy and giving it to failing ones. By sustaining companies with obsolete or unsustainable business models, the government prevents their resources from being liquidated and made available to other companies that can put them to better, more productive use. An essential element of a healthy free market, is that both success and failure must be permitted to happen when they are earned. But instead with a bailout, the rewards are reversed – the proceeds from successful entities are given to failing ones. How this is supposed to be good for our economy is beyond me."

Here is my view:
Government, or "your" politician is not your friend. Government is an occupant. It is an expansive parasite you need to function properly. You need them, but you need to watch them as their agenda is different than yours most of the time. I am not describing a pathological situation, being a parasite is the very nature of government. It is a paradox people rarely grasp.
- Totally agree. Celebrity and partisan politics scare me to death; they limit objectivity.tommyo
