Recount: Norm Coleman’s lead over Al Franken shrinks
By day's end, with about 18 percent of the vote recounted, Coleman continued to lead Franken -- but by only 174 votes, notably narrower than the unofficial gap of 215 votes at which the recount had begun. Franken's gain owed much to a swing of 23 votes in the Democratic stronghold of St. Louis County -- the result of faintly marked ballots and older optical scanners that failed to read the marks.
The figures represent a Star Tribune compilation of recount data reported to the secretary of state and gathered by the Star Tribune.
Campaign monitors from both sides had challenged a total of 269 votes statewide, with Coleman observers disputing 146 ballots while the Franken camp challenged 123.

^^ Yeahhhhhhhh Daschle is connected
http://www.forbes.com/2003/04/17…Senator Tom Daschle may earn a meager salary of $171,900, but together with lobbyist wife Linda, he's got enough to live large. The Daschles are currently under contract to buy a $2.25 million seven-bedroom house on Washington D.C.'s ritzy Foxhall Road, according to local sources. The property itself is described as a French country colonial home, with four stories, and a 12,855 square-foot yard with a heated pool. The home the Daschles are selling is a considerably more modest three-bedroom $739,000 townhouse.
- Did it bug you that McCain had 7 houses?ukit
- Daschle's wife is a lobbyist c*nt and he rakes in the money from her actions. Stop it.********
- BTW, that info was from 2003, I can ONLY imagine what he has now. F*CKING BS********
- ukit, it would bug me if McCain had 7 houses from lobbyist kick-back monies, YES.********
- ukit0
Well JazX this should make you happy. It looks like Obama has asked Daschle's wife to quit her lobbying now that he will be part of the Cabinet. Also she was a defense lobbyist, completely unrelated to what he will be working on. I could see the point if she was a health care lobbyist.
- LOL, yeahhhhhhhhh, please stop that now, even though they've paid you craploads. Righto!********
- And nothing is completely unrelated in DC brother.********
- Healthcare and defense? Please name a connection for me.ukit
- Dude, are you crazy? She's a lobbyist. You think for one second she doesn't try to influence as much as possible********
- LOL, yeahhhhhhhhh, please stop that now, even though they've paid you craploads. Righto!

Let's review.

Racism
Sexism
HomophobiaBut really, he is just trying to point out the other side of things in an intelligent and forward thinking manner.

Bottom line is this - if you are really worried about corruption/ influence peddling, Obama is going to be about a million times better than any Republican administration. You think someone like Bush or Romney would give a shit about lobbyists? Even McCain, with his "reform" image, would have been worse than Obama.
- How do you justify that? He comes from Chicago, one of the most corrupt cities in the country? Please.********
- You say that McCain would have been worse? Ha, you have some insider info there?********
- Hey, I'm from Chicago too, does that make me corrupt?:Dukit
- YOU MUST BE A CAPONE!calcium
- Politics, brother-man. Do some digging.********

"She's a lobbyist. You think for one second she doesn't try to influence as much as possible"
News flash: the guy you voted for, McCain, had an entire campaign actually RUN by lobbyists. Charlie Black, one of his top advisers, used to lobby for foreign governments. Rick Davis used to lobby FROM the "Straight Talk Express" for corporations. The guy he tapped to manage his transition had lobbied for freakin Saddam Hussein, FFS. Didn't bother you about McCain, why should it bother you about the wife of the HHS secretary in the Obama administration?
- That's not who's in charge my friend. He's naming Clintonites with direct connections to lobbyist and dirtbags********
- There is no CHANGE.********
- LOL, so did any of this buy you about McCain? Guess not.ukit

Anyone that uses "halfbreed" and 'blackie" in conversation and then says "Yeah, what's the problem?" I don't take seriously. They've checked shit the door. Even better when they say "Nice labelling me now get back to your welfare line".
Class fucking act.
- What's wrong with that? Take it as you take it. Ultrasensitives. Waa- waaa, crybabies.********

JazX you must feel so alone in this world, your Lord and Savior Bush will be gone in a couple of months, his lap dog McCain lost for the second time in a row and the wack-job Palin has gone home to praise Jesus Christ and hunt moose.
- Alone? Nope. Not really. The cyclical nature of politics is something we all need to deal with, right? 8 in, 8 out.********
- the republicans are nothing like they were 15 years ago, though. That has changed.DrBombay

John Dingell ousted from one of the most powerful spots in Congress...
http://www.politico.com/news/sto…
The ascension of Waxman, a wily environmentalist, recasts a committee that Dingell has chaired since 1981 with an eye toward protecting the domestic auto industry in his native Michigan. The Energy and Commerce Committee has principal jurisdiction over many of President-elect Barack Obama's top legislative priorities, including energy, the environment and health care.
"Seniority is important, but it should not be a grant of property rights to be chairman for three decades or more,” Waxman said after emerging from the caucus meeting.
Waxman’s win is a big victory for environmentalists who want a more aggressive stance on global warming from the committee, and the vote showed the powerful hand of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Waxman ally, even though she officially remained neutral in the race.
