Husband's foreign deals may pose issue for Clinton
http://www.breitbart.com/article…
Former President Bill Clinton's globe-trotting business deals and fundraising for his foundation sometimes put his activities abroad at odds with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and could cause complications if President-elect Barack Obama picks her to be secretary of state.- I don't see this as a big issuezaq
- and I suppose you are one to never question anything the Democrats do wrong********
- zaq. You do realize that the position H Clinton might be getting is the Secretary of State right? Meaning, interfacing withtommyo
- foreign countries. B Clinton is pretty well involved globally. This leaves the door open to accusations of improprietytommyo
- should H Clinty make decisions pertaining to a country where her hubby is involved.tommyo
- Here is http://www.youtube.c…zaq
- So your comment about Hillary has nothing to do with the actual issue and everything to do with partisanship?tommyo

Dear Moronic American News Media,
Do we still need this kind of journalism (From Newsweek)?
http://www.newsweek.com/id/16919…
Fucking Newseek. One of two serious major american journalist sources. You know, the big bad evil liberal ones. Still askng if Obama is the 'antichrist".Um, ok.
Secondary question: If Obama is INDEED the Antichrist, why didn't the crazy evangelical block vote for him? Seems they would WANT the antichrist to get rolling so they can finally get around to that whole rapturing thang.

Lawmakers, Investors Ask Fed for Lending Disclosure (Update2)
By Alison FitzgeraldNov. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Members of Congress, taxpayers and investors urged the Federal Reserve to provide details of almost $2 trillion in emergency loans and the collateral it has accepted to protect against losses.
At least five Republican members of Congress yesterday called for the Fed to disclose which financial institutions are borrowing taxpayer money and what troubled assets the central bank is accepting as collateral. More than 300 more investors and taxpayers also pressed for more disclosure in e-mails and interviews with Bloomberg News.

History may be written by the winners, but that doesn't stop the losers from wasting a lot of ink in the attempt. This time, it's the GOP revanchists who are busy trying to come up with a reason -- any reason -- for the economic crisis that doesn't point directly to their conservative ideology and the greedy green horse of the Apocalypse, deregulation.
There are dozens of letters percolating through Republican chain mail, and a matching number of posts on right wing blogs, all trying to spread the same message: Democrats loaned money to black people!
Here's an example plucked from my own mailbox.
We're on the brink of an economic disaster and another Great Depression. This was not caused by Republicans. This was caused solely by Democrats.
In 1977 Democratic President Jimmy Carter passed the Community Reinvestment Act to provide housing to poor people. In the 1990s Bill Clinton had Attorney General Janet Reno threaten banks under red lining rules into giving loans to people who could not afford them. Then in the last 8 years, the leftist group ACORN, which has ties to Barack Obama, went to banks and threatened them to relax their rules again. Banks had to give loans to people who had no jobs or no identification.
You have to hand it to them. In terms of bringing together the maximum number of Republican demons -- Carter, Clinton, Reno, Obama -- with the smallest amount of connecting narrative, this is a keeper.
It's a satisfying bedtime story for the right. They can snooze and dream of revenge, when the wonders of True Conservatism will pave the streets with a mixture of gold and liberal bones. Unfortunately for them, it's not only simplistic, not only demonstrative of deep prejudice, it's also dead wrong.

Nov. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Defense Secretary Robert Gates may be closer to being tapped for extended duty by Barack Obama because of the near certainty a Democrat -- possibly Hillary Clinton -- will be named secretary of state and Gates's willingness to accept a new team around him, according to Democratic and Republican experts.
It isn't certain that President-elect Obama will ask Gates to remain or that he would accept if asked. Still, a bipartisan group says Gates would provide stability at the Pentagon as the new administration inherits wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and confronts the global credit crisis.
``It would be a very powerful signal of bipartisanship and continuity,'' said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a Georgia Republican who sits on a board that advises Gates on policy issues and favors his being kept on under Obama.
Several Democrats have spoken favorably of keeping Gates, 65, who was appointed two years ago by President George W. Bush. They include Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island.
Reed, a member of the Armed Services Committee, said in an interview that Gates has ``done an extraordinary job.''
``I would hope that in some capacity he could continue to serve,'' he said.

Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens is in grave danger of losing re-election after Mark Begich widened his lead to 1,022 votes Friday.
More than 90 percent of the votes are now counted, and Friday's count of absentee and questioned ballots could have been Stevens' best chance to make a comeback. That's because it included all the ballots left from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, where Stevens has enjoyed his most unwavering support.
There are about 24,000 ballots left to be counted, coming from Anchorage, Southeast Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula. The state will tally them all Tuesday.
