Russia is waking up to news of the strike – though we know military channels were used to alert Moscow before the missiles were launched – and reaction so far has been hostile.
State news agency RIA quoted Viktor Ozerov, head of the defence and security committee at the Russian upper house of parliament, saying the US strikes could undermine the fight against terrorism.
Ozerov said Russia would call for an urgent meeting of the UN security council:
"This [the attack] could be viewed as an act of aggression of the US against a UN nation."

Trump in trade talks with China who he insulted repeatedly at the same time he pissed off russia for bombing their ally in Syria.
He's disliked by the vast majority of his citizens.
Expect more erratic decisions

- Hey. Surprised in the slightest that omg is already in this thread making the case that there's high ROI in bombing Syria? Holy fucktards.monospaced
- I guess trump suckers think it's okay to bomb if we do get something out of it. Yikes.monospaced

Two days ago UN says 'We don't have enough evidence to conclude who did the chemical attack"
And a day later US launches missiles into Syria.
- Very similar scenario that has been written in Iraq invasion.Beeswax
- exactly.Gnash
- Maybe someone just split a load of bleach?fruitsalad
- You don't launch missiles after such an incident. Diplomacy requires the case to be investigated by independent orgs and put pressure on involved parties.Beeswax

- Just when Assad is winning against daech,.... BOOM!, out of nowhere, chemical bombs. Public opinion goes "we need our government to bomb the shit out of them."ApeRobot

Yeah, I don't know what to believe about all of this - frankly, I find it unimaginably stupid and therefore completely unlikely that Assad did used chemical weapons now or the last time.
But what the fuck do I know?
- It would be a bizarre strategy - not exactly against a wall are they.fadein11
- It would be just about the most stupid thing he could do, and he doesn't strike me as a stupid man.********

Trump has been very openly against invading the middle east in general, against going in to Syria, and generally for minding your own business - for years. People keep posting his tweets regarding this and shouting hypocrite? He's been saying this long before he was campaigning to become president.
Do you think it's logical that someone's moral compass would flip 180 degrees as soon as they become president? Is that logical to you?
What is far more reasonable to assume, and we can take Obama as another perfect example, is that the president doesn't really call the shots.
So the question is, who IS calling the shots? And who voted for them?
- yeah sure. whatever set, if the new WW breaks out because of this shit i'm going to move into your flat.sted
- I'd like to see you try, but back to the point 'whatever' ? Whatever what? What is your logical response to my question... ?********
- So why do you have such a problem with Obama then? This post is a 180 degree flip I'm afraid.fadein11
- I have a problem with America. My problem regarding Obama was the difference in media coverage and people's support.********
- You failing to understand my points may constitute a flip in your mind, but the reality is another story, I'm afraid.********
- If you listened closely to Obama during the campaign he was against Iraq, not against U.S. interventionism in general.yuekit
- Trump OTOH strikes me as someone who is a loose cannon, just reacts based on who he talked to last. He's flipped on any number of positions, not just this one.yuekit
- I'm talking more generally. Obama promised change, right? Nothing changed, just more of the same.********
- He was originally in favor of Iraq war, recorded a video in favor of overthrowing Gaddafi in Libya...you can't say that he was a real anti-war candidate.yuekit
- Why are you being so specific though yuekit? If he's flipped on multiple positions, that backs up my suggestion even more, not less.********
- If it's not the president it is the swamp, which trump promised and failed miserably at draining.monospaced
- *to drainmonospaced
- Well he's flipped back and forth...from being hawkish to isolationist and back again. I don't think it necessarily shows he's being manipulated, just that he'syuekit
- an opportunist who will do whatever it takes to market himself and gain power and influence.yuekit
- Look at the fake university he created to rip off his own supporters. The guy has no moral compass.yuekit
- ... but what 'he' has done now is EXACTLY the US narrative. It's Iraq and Libya all over again.********
- I agree there's a lot of continuity there. And yes Trump is probably being heavily influenced by military people who have a lot more knowledge and experienceyuekit
- than he does. If that's what you meant then I agree. I'm just saying he's never really had the steadfast anti-interventionist views that some people in theyuekit
- alternative press like to attribute to him.yuekit
- Maybe if Trump hadn't made such outrageous claims around his intelligence, knowledge of military complexity, and ability to fix everything ...monospaced
- Fair enough, yuekit********

I imagine the media hatred campaign to push to get Trump out will die a death now. This action proves that they no longer need to. He's done, stick a fork in him.
- I agree. But the media hatred campaign wasn't really that was it - since election he has consistently made an utter tool of himself on the world stage. It's notfadein11
- made up it's on video everyday and in every interview with him. I think you overplay the witch hunt aspect. He is the tool he appears to be.fadein11
- +1 anywayfadein11
- To his supporters this proves nothing of the sort. I wouldn't be surprised if his side of the media (Fox News) made the opposite argument.monospaced
- I've never witnessed such utter hatred from otherwise rational people over someone who is 'just a tool' before.********
- It will undoubtedly create more imbalance in Syria, followed by the creation of more refugee situations, and bolster his stance on how dangerous they are to himmonospaced
- hatred from people? or the media, I am getting confused. The press have been generally quite restrained about him in the UK at least. If you meant somefadein11
- Comparing him to Hitler and calling for him to be killed and that he hates women and gays and foreigner. The most ridiculous shit I've ever witnessed..********
- kind of people's witch hunt with pitchforks etc. then that's a different matter.fadein11
- He hatred comes from the "tool" acting like he was something else, for his attacks on actual smart people, and for continuing to act like a tool.monospaced
- @mono - gotta love the hypocrisy of caring for Syrian children so much as to go to war while blocking the same people from your country. Fucking joke.fadein11
- There was a Donald trump hate thread for years before he even started his campaign. It's not a new media witch hunt. Trump hate is well documented for 30+ yrs.monospaced
- indeed.fadein11
- http://i.imgur.com/r…utopian
- You keep posting that as if you might have some kind of intelligent input to give against it, but keep failing to provide it.********
- Might be best to keep your lack of intelligence to yourself, so as to at least attempt to maintain an image of possessing a basic IQ********
