Poor little guy.
“I feel sad,” he said. “I feel like it’s all my fault nobody could play.”
- TheBlueOne0
Totally wrong.

I can kinda see both sides of the story. I'd be pissed if my 9 year old was told he couldn't play the position he was good at... but by the same token, I'd be pissed if my kid never got to learn to hit a ball because of a wonder kid pitcher.
- It's not like they play him every game though. There is plenty of opportunity to learn.eegrek

Yeah, pretty shitty...
"Jericho’s coach and parents say the boy is being unfairly targeted because he turned down an invitation to join the defending league champion, which is sponsored by an employer of one of the league’s administrators."
- TheBlueOne0
Let him pitch two innings and take him out.
- at least...TheBlueOne
- I think the limit is 3 innings for that league.ismith
- If you want to pitch the next game, that is. You could only pitch 6 innings per two games when I played.ismith

“He is a very skilled player, a very hard thrower,” Noble said. “There are a lot of beginners. This is not a high-powered league. This is a developmental league whose main purpose is to promote the sport.”
Hmm...sounds like crap, but, at the same time, isn't there some other league Jericho could join and prosper in?
- Because if it really is a beginner's group, I can understand why some parents wouldn't want him there.Jaline
- They could just not let him play as much, but that's a waste for him.Jaline
- So maybe it is best that he leave and find a place that is more fitting for him and doesn't hold him back.Jaline
- I think if they moved him up in age category it would be good, he'll learn more against better batters anywayseegrek

Besides the kids have to learn that you know, life just ain't fucking fair. Better to learn that on a baseball field facing a peer who can pitch a 40mph fastball than in other places. That's what baseball is for. And besides maybe there's a kid there who can HIT fastballs like those - how is he going to discover HIS talent?
- you just blew my mind...D_Dot
- Bill's in the mail.TheBlueOne
- You're right. However, what about the kids who are not at that skill level yet? It sounds like the majority are not.Jaline

When I was in little league, we were discouraged from throwing to hard because our muscles were still too fragile. Is his mother not concerned about that?
- CALLES0
llyod?
- mikotondria30
I don't like is = It's not fair.
We try to teach kids this is not true, and most of the time shit isn't 'fair' or 'not fair', you just don't like it.
Then parents and fucking 'coaches' - people who wander about wearing sporty jackets into their 50s and 60s come along and play piss-contests like this between themselves and we wonder why industries are going abroad to find people who can work ?

I know having allergies is life and death sometimes, but it does remind me of that argument about whether the kid with the allergy should change / be more careful, or if the rest of the classmates should change their habits instead.

Kid should be moved up, better chances, and better competition for him. I can see why he wants to play in the league, with his friends and all.
On the same hand, a young kid like that should also slow down. This isn't the only story of an amazing young pitcher; there are tons of kids like this. Some don't even make it out of high school because they eventually blow their arm out.

- I remember that movieismith
- it was on tv the other day and I was watching it.. actually pretty good film for "kids" movie.richardkark

George, Steven. Look guys I'm sorry but you just can't make this Indiana Jones movie. It's not my decision, but the exec's think it's just too good. They'd prefer to give more of these shitty movies a chance to shine.
- Failrichardkark
- I don't know why i went there really... It just seems totally stupid to stifle a kid who is damned good at something.YAYPaul
- Owww my first QBN fail. I'm touched.YAYPaul
- Actually, I just realized that I failed. I thought you had typed in the wrong thread. I FAIL.richardkark

Yea, they should just bump him up a division. My friend and I growing up weren't allowed to play in any of the baseball/ basketball/ soccer divisions in our age groups because at those ages you're either learning, or not very good. While we had older brothers and had been exposed/played these games constantly, well before we were of age to participate in a team setting.
Sounds cool, but basically in retrospect ... the kids in your grades think you're too good for them, and the kids who you play with are angry because someone 2/3 grades lower than them are starting, heh.
Good times?
Yes. As it only made us continually better at a continued accelerated pace.
- I know you love baseball but for some reason I can't picture you as a baseball player, hahaJaline
- I had a similar experience, but not brothers, cousins. Too bad Sharon is such a small town, made things a bit harder.ismith
- Well to my credit, I stopped playing when I got moved to Pony early and the kids were whizzing the ball.********
- I got beaned 4 times in one game and said I was never playing again and never did, haha.********
- Sharon, PA?
Home of Quaker Steak?******** - Sharon, CT haha home of no police force for 50 milesismith

I used to play baseball with a kid like that. He threw so hard that either the catchers on his team or our team couldn't catch the ball. Ha. I think the kid was on roids, he never grew taller than 5'3" haha
40mph? thats slow The kid i was talking about threw in the 80's mph range.

It's really sad that the parents can't just work with their own kids to make them better ballplayers, but instead shun the better ballplayer and tell them to be on the same low playing field as their own kids. That's the fucking problem with America today. Instead of praising this kid and using that to inspire our children to be better, try harder and work harder, they want to keep their kids lower on the totem pole and be mediocre players.
This will translate directly to their lives outside of baseball too. Shame on those parents. Hurray for this kid.

I read that too and it pissed me off so bad! So when someone is really good an talented you take him out because you don't want to loose. How unfair is that? And can you imagine how that little guy is feeling?
Wining bitches that's what they are!! Let him play!
