Install the lock, subtract the cost from your rent, include a copy of the bill with your next rent check.

He's not in NY by any chance, Bullet?

make sure to get them keyed alike - you don't want to walk around with a huge pocket of keys. That being said you'll probably need to get a similar brand as what is currently there. Different lock companies use different cylinders and therefore different key ways. There are some standard, but it doesn't hurt to check. Or you could have 2 separate keys.
My dad is a locksmith by-the-way, I used to work with him.

Ha - yeah - I know. Starting to regret it BUT I live with who I want to live with and the location is great AND its a 15 minute walk to work, too.

you can buy your own lock and ask them to install it. or you can do it your self. buying the lock from the locksmith can be expansive but they will make sure it will fit.
i bought my own lock, and got someone to install it.

I need to get another lock added to the front door of my apartment in NY (west village).
Anyone got any one they can recommend?
Any ideas how much it'll cost me?
