    Just kidding! Maybe logos that a re verbose like that work well when the words are wrapped around a seal? (not the aquatic kind)

    I think you might need to think about what you are saying here.

    The scales weigh two things against eachother. In your case you have a kid reaching for a star (chasing dreams) weighing against a kid with two adults (happy family). To me that seem to be two positives, when you might want a positive and a negative weighing against eachother.
    How about making the kid in the family reaching for a star where on the other scale you can show "justice"? Then your telling a different story about making a choice between a 'good' and 'bad'.

    I think the style is spot on, although I would make the arms of the scale (more) symetrical. The colours of the first one were more positive than in this second design. Maybe the green from the first with the red from the second?

    ^ you have a great point about weighing the two things... showing justice the way they want has proved difficult i had been using a gavel, but they insisted that they wanted to show justice, not judging - I do notice now the message i currently have, may convey weighing the juvenile's dreams vs. family (though the point of the hands in the background was to show community balancing the two) - i'm going to think on this carefully
