i am going to be getting a new phone in a few days hopefully the iphone 3G and just wanted to no anyones opinion on it is it a good phone? or should i go with something else?

it's pretty fantastic. with the google maps gps and the ability to stream my entire 80+gigs of music that are on my work machine using simplify media through my iphone make it worth it just for those 2 things alone.

everyone i talk to say the 3g sucks on it, drops calls, so you gotta switch it off and use the regular network to make a call. lame in my opinion. Plus that plastic casing sucks.

its good when it works. my 3G drops off constantly. when i just upgraded to 2.0.2, it died and had to get a new one.
with 2.0.2 update, the 3G sucks even more as it tried to switch to Edge when the 3G signal fall below 3 bars.

I've had mine for about three weeks now and have no complaints about it. I've had a few calls drop, and that's annoying, but it's nothing I'd hate it for. Everything else it gives me kind of trumps any dropped calls.
Besides, no phone carrier is perfect. Calls will drop on any carrier. I had really great service with T-Mobile for 3+ years and kind of loathed switching to AT&T, but so far it's not been bad.
Those of you mentioning bad 3G service in this thread - where do you live? In Chicago it's pretty widespread, great downtown, but not in my neighborhood.

I think all these people with 3g problems are with AT&T no?
I use Fido and have no problems at all. In fact the service is even more impressive than it was with my old fido phone. I get reception in subway tunnels now.
Also Rogers and Fido have a promotion where you get 6gb of data for $30 but it expires at the end of the month!! So go soon because I think I burned through 300mb in like 2 days. It's totally worth it if you can get a good data plan.

the white ones were reported to develop some small cracks around the edges, the black ones, pretty sure I saw no mention of that.
If you're looking for a case, which you should be because it's actually a little difficult to hold onto this thing, I highly suggest this one by incase:

It has a really nice grip, though it's a little hard to get out of your pocket if you have tight jeans on.

The plans go like this: Pick a data plan and then pick a phone plan. I have 6gb data for $30 and a $35 phone plan which is like 250 daytime min and unlimited evenings and weekends. And then I pay $15 for fucking call display and text messages which is a total rip off but whatever. You need call display.
And I dunno which one looks cooler. I have a black one and my bf has a white one.. white hides finger prints better.

I love mine. The 3G network is useless where I live for some reason though. Hopefully they get more coverage on 3G soon. I have been using the edge network.

pure win for me with the 3g version so far. Av got shit loads of apps installed too.
ps. QBN notes do WORK. You just need to click slightly to the left of the arrow on the note - that's it.

switched from t-mobile, happy so far with the iphone. no dropped calls or anything, web is slow-ish if you're not on wifi, but I don't usually use it for that. double your memory for only $100, seems worth it to me.
