Do you still see yourself in the industry doing graphic design in your 50 & 60. The reason I ask is because I do not see many graphic designer older then 39+ working in are field, or for companies.
I suppose my real question is: Is graphic design a short time career.

i think most creative jobs fade as you get older. so become a legend before you hit 45.
- Good point. But you have to die to become a legend right.

Actually I wonder this too. Back in the glory days you were a Graphic Designer until you died (Muller Brockman et al). These days the skills needed change so rapidly that it would require you to be absolutely on the very edge of what's coming next every single day of your life to maintain a career as a graphic designer for an entire lifetime.
- Well, you are on the edge when your 60, your nearly dead.********

I think a lot of people burn out or switch careers. It's a challenge to push yourself to stay relevant.

A reality show where 10 designers are imprisoned somewhere and told to design stuff, while filmed and once a week there is a competition ... the thought of it scares me....

that sounds like Project Runway / Design Star / Sheer Genius and few other designer-ish shows.
- didn't see anything similar until now. And I'm pretty fine this way.Fariska
