my neighbor killed himself about 3 weeks ago. it was not a good thing.
- dog_opus0
It's one of the most tragic things imaginable when someone gets to that point, in my view.

Never...always look to those closest to you for support.
“Suicide is not chosen; it happens when pain exceeds resources for coping with pain.”
- and if your closest's memories have been erased?Llyod
- working with teenagers.. I can say that a lot of troubled kids dont trust their "support"..Audria
- You've got to understand, nothing is forever. Everything has a lifespan. We own nothing, we're just using it for the now. Everything in our life comes and goes. Even those closest to us.BannedKappa
- Character limit...BannedKappa
- Suicide's pretty 'forever', which is part of the attraction.detritus
- QBN is forever.meffid

I see it as just one of those things. Just like getting off of the amusement ride called life.
- Its called evolution - natural selection. The weak must go in order for our race to become strongcosmicEntity

My great-uncle killed himself about a month ago. Walked into his backyard with a shotgun and....
I never knew the guy, but apparently he was just unhappy. He had it all...family, money, retirement, etc.
- Jnr_Madison0
I've had experience with it too but it was a thread started by llyod and well... y'know.

Meh, this may sound callous but I find suicide to be very selfish and I really don't have a shred of care for anyone who does it. All it does is hurt the people who actually cared for the person.
I've known people who have told me they were going to kill themselves, and I've known people who have killed themselves and I really could give two fucks.
I think it's a sign of weakness, well an obvious sign of weakness, and if you're going to kill yourself it's probably for the betterment of mankind that you did.
Life fucking sucks. Whoopty shit.
- Drive-By Truckers have a song similar to this sentiment called "Do It Yourself."dog_opus
- your cut and dry sentiment is idioticLlyod
- Lloyd, I'm not even sure what your point of being on QBN is to be honest.********
- My sentiment as cut and dry as it may be, is more realistic than anything.********
- flavorful, i find your post disrespectful of the people whose lives suicide has harmed. very cold of you.arthur
- Is it too late to say you probably shouldn't read anything else in this thread with my name attached?********
- It is a simplistic view, easy to do. It is difficult to understand those that have differing viewsformed
- That's a two way street.ornj

Well it could also be a sign of mental imbalance. We shouldn't assume it's always a rational choice, in fact how could it be
- VectorMasked0
So... flavourful,
if one is suffering for some reason and has gotten nothing but crap in his/her life... should he/she stay alive just to not be selfish? One must remain alive at all costs just to please family?
I mean i get your point, but there is a logic if seen the other way around.
- Great point... VM
That'll make me think for a while...VectorMasked - ;o)VectorMasked

Same difference. The mentally unstable are a drain on everyone around them even more so than a mope-a-dope.
Except the people involved with the former are fighting an uphill battle beforehand.
- Fuck the mentally unstable! While you're at it, throw the physically handicapped off a bridge toolocustsloth
- ... Yes. Actually, I know it sounds weird but for the betterment of the species it would be beneficial.********
- I went over this in the Tropic Thunder Protest thread earlier too.********
- Doesn't sound weird, sounds kind of vile, if you mean it. This was Hitler's attitude also.dog_opus
- Greeks, Romans, etc.
Most societies way before Hitler thought this way.******** - Why heed to the weakest of the lot that can't fend for themselves? Or wouldn't be able to given the chance.********
- Slavery used to be a normative part of civilization as well.dog_opus
- First you equate me to Hitler, and now you equate slavery to handicapped people and the mentally challenged.********
- Nice deflection there, sport.dog_opus
- Yes, grown men having sex with young boys to share knowledge was also the norm at one point.********
- The Earth used to be flat. Oh and the center of the universe.********
- I see you have an adversarial relationship with reason as well as ethics. Your prerogative, cool breeze.dog_opus
- What benefit on society do people who cannot fend for themselves without constant supervision have?********
- Congratulations, you did get me to say a pretty over the top thing even for me, haha.********
- Sounds pretty unstable to me. The most dangerous are the most closed minded.formed
- Jnr_Madison0
I hear what you're saying flav but as ukit points out, most of the time these people are not rational or mentally stable.. some are but rare.
- VectorMasked0
True... ukit, forgot to add that.
Not everybody is wired the same way. An event could scar someone for life, but could only sadden someone for a few months. Social acceptence might not be so important or tough for some but for other is basic and needed. Pain can't be measured. Just a like joke might make someone shit their pants, could not have an effect on someone else's brain. There's chemistry involved in the brain too.
- btw... I'm starving... I'm off to Starbucks
:o)VectorMasked - You need more than coffee if you're starving, man!dog_opus
- I know... I'll probably get some banana bread... or a Chocolate Croissant :o)VectorMasked
- This will not do! Eat a meal. It'll feed your creativity.dog_opus
- I'm back! with a Venti Blended Lemonade and a carrot cake...
Will make dinner later, but for now this will do :o)VectorMasked - Yum.dog_opus
