...and we're off. I think this is a great Obama ad. Use McInsane's own words against him and frame him against the average citizen rather than vs. Obama. Nice touch.

Why do all the young hipsters on here love Obama so much? (not saying you are a hipster monkeyshine...) I honestly don't know who I would vote for at this point.. but don't young people comprehend that when his tax breaks for seniors go into effect, its YOU who will be carrying the tax burden?
Honestly.. if somebody can give me 3 REAL reasons to vote for Obama, (and not just "Change" or "Hope" or that BS) you really could swing my vote.. but somebody actually post something he REALLy going to do, not just the same old tag lines and crap
- Maybe actually involve the electorate in their own government for one...TheBlueOne
- and no ghey Shepard Fairy crap either...nicnichols
- S. Fairy makes me want to take RISD off of my resume...nicnichols
- The tax burden will actually be carried mostly by those making over 250,000 a year.SigDesign
- and they can also afford to move their money and their jobs elsewhere.johndiggity
- republican policy has FAILED beyond what anyone thought FAIL could mean, McCain is a republican. Isn't that enough not to vote for McCain?lumedia
- Dr_Rand0
I'm not young, and I'm not a hipster
- but I'm voting ObamaDr_Rand
- Why?nicnichols
- because he is intelligent, grounded, solid, moral, a leader, wants the right things for our country and the world, etcDr_Rand
- etcDr_Rand
- So again, its just the "I have a dream" stuff??nicnichols
- no, it's the "he has the superior tools to be a president" stuffDr_Rand
- monkeyshine0
I'm not a young hipster and I was a Hillary supporter (gasp!). Personally my reasons for supporting Obama are more about my fear of McCain. I read an article in the Sunday NYTimes about how eager McCain was to go into Iraq even before the White House started trying to sell the fight. He is truly scary. He is out of touch, he's a war monger, he's a hot head, he is not even close to being a moderate. For those of you who think McCain is a moderate Republican, please do some research. That is one of the biggest myths about him.
So, I'm posting here because I feel like this is the most important election in my life and I don't think our country can stand another 4 years of what we've experienced for the last 8.
- the biggest myth about him is that he's a MAVERICK, not a moderate. but yeah I hate his ass too.doesnotexist
- that's the 2nd biggest myth in my eyes. :)monkeyshine

its not like american politics is all about amazing choices or anything
- Mimio0
1). Common sense foreign policy
2). Federally funded alternative energy program
3). Fiscally responsible tax plan.- What are your reasons for backing McCain nicnichols?Mimio
- He never said he was backing him.Jaline
- I don't want either...
nicnichols - Surely one candidate has to approximate your political beliefs more than the other.Mimio
- I am leaning toward McCain, which is why I asked for some real policy points.. not just the crap from the commericals...nicnichols
- nicnichols0
So its the lesser of two evils, instead of basing the vote on actual policy?
Again, no offense, but I have yet to hear an intelligent argument FOR Obama.. (is all just "I have McCain")
...and I presonally don't want either...
- nicnichols0
1). Common sense foreign policy... uh, how? he has no experience
2). Federally funded alternative energy program.. McCain says the same thing..
3). Fiscally responsible tax plan. ... as I said, no 'tag lines' everyone says "Fiscally responsible tax plan"
- I am a life long Republican, from a very Republican family.. but I really am on the fence with this onenicnichols
- so you're a selfish bastid that cares about no one but yourself?mrdobolina
- NO. McCain wants to use market incentives.Mimio
- No Dobs, actually the majority of my free time goes to charity, fundraisers and helping inner city families with their animals..nicnichols
- is that before or after you are calling them jobless section8 people who won't stop having kids?mrdobolina
- monkeyshine0
Mimio just gave you 3 solid responses. What's not intelligent about those reasons?
- again, they are just "tag lines from commercials..." (no offense to Mimio..)nicnichols
- His tax plan isn't a "tagline" it's a policy thats vastly different from McCains.Mimio
- Seriously, you want us to detail 400 lines of policy? just go read it, you'll see.zarkonite
- designbot0
I dunno who I am going to vote for yet either.
But I have to say Obama seriously dodges nearly every tough question that is thrown at him. Regardless of if I agree with McCain's answers, at least his responses seem sincere and heart-felt. Obama seems like he is always trying to be politically- correct over honest. You can tell by the way he sits there and stutters before he answers a question.....Tell it like it is! I would have so much more respect for him.
- so McCain will run us into the ground with his straight talk but at least he's honest? Quaint.monkeyshine
- mrdobolina0
you may have to go read on his web site about specific policies.
- designbot0
Anyone know where to find the full video of the Warren debate? I could only find parts on youtube.
- monkeyshine0
Well, their tax plans are very different. As a Republican you likely support McCain's position on this. Assuming you are not supportive of the Bush administration at this point, do you really see McCain making a difference? Diplomacy seems to be as foreign a concept to him as to Bush. Do you care that our reputation in the world is sh!t? I do and I think Obama will work to mend our reputation; I can't see McCain reaching out to anyone. He thought that going into Iraq would be easy peasy and an effective deterrent to all the other rogue nations thinking of f*cking with the US. Does any of that concern you?
- somatica0
The same reason I'd buy a Hybrid over an Edsel is the same reason I'm voting Obama over McCain, to put it into an expression you might understand.
- for the Smug value?nicnichols
- I was thinking more "Common sense value over the long run" but whatever.somatica
- nicnichols0
Taxation would probably be my biggest stumbling point with Obama, aside for the constant "vote for him because he's black" (he's half black, was raised by his white mom, so why isn't he Mulato?)
--> not trying to be racial on that point, btw. Just that he isn't black.I would prefer a flat tax, or a personal consumption tax. I don't want to be taxed more if I make more money, and I don't want my tax dollars to feed jobless section 8 people who won't stop having kids...
I don't agree with Iraq, unless we are going to take their Oil, which we really should have to pay back the $$ for the war..
... but I have yet to hear anything that would make me really want to Vote for Obama..
- Your mind is made up then.Mimio
- I will wait for the debates.. as I said before, I really don't want either one...nicnichols
- you CLEARLY are a Republican. Irak was your dumb idea, why should they "repay" you?!?!?!zarkonite
- somatica0
nicnichols so are you going to be one of those "Rebels" who doesn't vote cause he doesn't like either candidate? I bet you drink whatever beer happens to be on special each night though regardless of what beer you actually prefer eh?!
- I always vote, because as I say "if you don't vote, you can't bitch"nicnichols
- Palindrome0
"jobless section 8 people who won't stop having kids..."
Isn't that a generalization/stereotype? Sounds like something rich people use as an excuse to not pay their taxes...
- rich people= my own generalizing LOLPalindrome
- Stereotype? You mean it's not true that poor people make kids because they don't want to make money? Shockinglocustsloth
- mrdobolina0
All of this talk about taxes, you do realize that every family in this country owes thousands and thousands of dollars each just for the war in Iraq, right? And you want tax cuts, wake up!
- //More GOP deficit spending!
That'll work.Mimio - I don't want tax cuts on what I earn at work, I just don't want to be taxed more as I progress... thats why I say Flat Tax.nicnichols
- ...but Obama will tax our savings, our investments, inheritance, land, and any other double tax he can...nicnichols
- wtf is paying for this war? seriously you need to snap out of it.mrdobolina
- //More GOP deficit spending!
- nicnichols0
On FP.. one word would be 'Experience' of which Obama has.. None.
"A graduate of the Naval Academy, Mr. McCain flew in Vietnam and was a prisoner of war for more than five years. In the Senate, he is the senior Republican on the Armed Services Committee.
He has visited every region of the world, including Antarctica and the Arctic Circle, and frequently meets with leaders of the countries to which he's traveled, both when he visits their countries and when they visit the United States.
Mr. McCain has been across the world so many times that aides named off the tops of their heads some 69 countries he's visited — including Azerbaijan, Estonia, Laos, and Palau — and warned the list was far from exhaustive.
Aides say he keeps up to speed on the politics and policies of many nations — a passion he regularly displays to reporters traveling with him — and understands the long-term ramifications of having well-established personal relationships with foreign leaders."
- so your mind seems pretty made up then.mrdobolina
- i trust McCain with our international relationships in Antarctica. Everywhere else...not so muchlocustsloth
