I just got a new job doing Quark layouts for a major ad firm. The only problem, I've never used Quark. I start in one week. Can it be done?

A major ad firm still using Quark? It's shite.
Surprising. But yes, it can be done.

just use indesign the export to quark? i hate quark and I hate job postings that refer to quark.

wait. why would they hire you if you don't know quark?
- designbot0
You put "Quark Expert" on your resume didn't you?

If it's simply ads you are laying out then you'll be fine, if you're needing to produce heavy literature/catalogues then you may have a bit of a challenge, you should be able to manage though if you know InDesign well.

The job is fairly simple work. Opening up documents, making some changes and saving them. I figure I can get by on a basic understanding.
- you'll be slow for a week. after that should be cake.dirtydesign

did you ever use pagemaker? Well, Quark's a little like that... outdated.

You'll be fine. It's a simple archaic program.

It may be a good idea to learn some keyboard shortcuts - but you'll need at least twelve fingers to pull off some of the trickier ones.
