i think it has to do with them saying they did nothing wrong and its not racist because they HAVE chinese friends.
few of my friends lived / traveled to spain, where ever they went, they would get spanish folks mocking them with slanted eyes and saying "ching chong ching chong" and saying something in spainish like "follow to get some chinese food" until she / he spoke spanish to them to burn them. they shut up and just walked away

I dunno. Are you sure this isn't just a case of the Spanish stating the obvious? I mean, the chinese do have slanted eyes, last time I looked. Does making a correct observation about a nation's ethnicity make it racist?

I said it in pic of the day thread, I'll repeat:
To me it looks like a friendly gesture, as if they were wearing Chinese t-shirts (pun 100% accidental, haha).
It's political correctness we've been brainwashed with that I'm worried about more.
Now this is going to be using against Madrid's olympic bid, which is absurd but real (Real Madrid, haha.. pun accidental). If that happens the world loses a big party in a country which does know how to party like no other.

I was talking to my wife about this and both of us were sort of laughing. The funny part is she is korean (born and raised) and has slanted eyes.
She asked me why people were upset and then said "how is is racist"... to my surprise I didn't really have an answer. I've alwasy been told it's racist, but didn't have a clear answer to why... She did mention other Korean people were offended, but she didn't see the reason. Seems like people just being uptight about offending everyone.
In the end it doesn't offend me. It seems about the same as making fun of "Engrish".
