at the end of Episode III you see Darth Vader on the bridge of an Empire ship with the Emperor and the technology was suddenly analog/push button... but just 20 minutes before that (in movie time) when he was on the volcano planet destroying the Trade Federation the technology was clearly touchscreen and shit.
*in response to mg33's post about the apparent visual regression of technology
- Empire ship building was outsourced...damn Nabooian push button technology!!TheBlueOne

i seem to remember differences in the stormtrooper voices, so i'd assume they can't be clones. aren't they also different heights? otherwise how would wee luke and taller han find uniforms to fit them both to a tee?

At some point I thought cloning machines / facilities were lost or destroyed. Another factor to using human recruits to fill out clone ranks. Plus recruiting is cheaper than cloning. The clones were just a means to create a secret and loyal army en mass.
As to the switch from robots fighting to clones/humans. The robots were the choice of the Trade Federation, not the Empire. A group with lots of money but initially with a business agenda, rather than a military one. Makes sense to make a force than train one.

Answer: Han shot first.

when I was a kid I was member of the Official Star Wars fan club and I thought I remember reading (in the Bantha Tracks newsletter) a sample of a Stormtrooper recruitment form... it went on to describe how the job included travel and that you would get to vacation in remote parts of the galaxy. Wish I would have saved those things.
- i used to get Bantha Tracks as welllocustsloth
- wish I woulda kept those things
