Agree. Im quite thankful my subscription ran out back in january.
Plus its taken them about 2 years to not get a website!

Not sure it will ever recover. There seems to be no recognition of its dwindling quality as it turns into a student fanzine.

Is it the same cover price as CR? Which holds more value?

Lidgett, you know its full of rubbish, that £8 could have been spend buying me pints... bad Arran

since sea stopped doing it the layout has gone way downhill. like a bad impersonation of what sea did. centered paragraphs of text and loads of other horrible stuff that i cringe at when i see it. plus ian anderson doesn't seem to write for them any more. its pretty shallow content wise and i agree with avant garde as a body text. very difficult to read. i liked it when made thought did it.

I stopped reading Grafik after Sea took over, it went from progressive to safe overnight, horrible over-big Avant Garde layouts, smug copy writing, only select desigers getting work shown, rubbish... and get back to work yourself you young whipper-snapper

Grafik Magazine. Top shelf porn for Graphics students...

Graphics International went downhill the day it became GRAFIK.
Pisspoor overpriced tossers wanking each other off over shite work they've seen elsewhere and badly copied month after month.
- Yep, bring back the old skool - less Hoxton twat versionbabaganush

Grafik magazineis a self congratulatory piece of rubbish. I have to agree with Arran - same faces, same mates, same editorial but unlike Arran we have been on the receiving end of their sheer nastyness.
We had one of our books reviewed (which i add has sold 200,000 copies in each of the 10 countries it is available in and was RIBA's book of the month two years ago) and they hadn't even opened it and we suspect, had just reviewed it from the write up by the publishers - in this months issue (following 2 years behind our book) is another piece of editiorial about an exhibition or book released by obviously someone they want to be friends with and possibly think is more influential than us, featuring all the material we had included in our book - and is virtually hailed as a masterpiece. While I have to say we were a bit upset by our nasty review - one does have to realise that not everyone is going to think you're good - but it was the fact that the review made it very clear that the book had never been opened. We also had several email conversations on the subject from the editor of the magazine at the time and she is, for want of a better word, a bitch, and I think her attitude towards us showed the true face of the magazine and I think it's bad for the design community.
I have read other reviews of books in that magazine too who have sufferd as badly as us - and it's really not neccessary.
Luckily Grafik's sales are nothing to write home about and it's distribution worse - so I hear - so their piece of vitriol was lost on the 2000000 buyers of our books who obviously enjoyed it.
- Bad review eh?centro

So, in a nutshell - she aint doing her job publishing house bosses...fuck 'em - the design equivalent of needing a big car because you have a small cock ( although sounds like she probably has a big one). There you go Lucan, a bit of nastiness back to even out the karma...

- everyone was nagging back before that as well hoping the mag would be better********

you'll find that most design magazines will be very "matey" towards certain companies/individuals.
this is either based on the "old boy" situation where the reporters/editor will know the people personally or they are from the 'old boy' establishment like the "StMartins Club" - based on SOCIAL skills rather than DESIGN skills. lol.
or
its because that company takes out a lot of advertising with that publication.
- There's an awful lot of shagging going on, let's leave it at thathonest

grafik is for young pups who like 'fings dat look nice' and zero substance imo, there's rarely anything worth reading or anything you can actually learn from, its just trendy shite for the illiterati.
- ********0
not that there's anything wrong with things that look nice, but I can find that shit on the web for free, not 8 sheets a pop.
- 23kon0
i dont think ive ever actually read stuff in creative review / blueprint / Grafik.
i just look at the pretty pictures :)
- MrMackem0
I do pick it up in Smiths - have a look at it. Flick through the pages then put it back.
Usually upside down.
