what are soem good compact speakers to plug into my mac? don't want a sub woofer - focus is on minimal cables/mess.

Genelecs are nice, but their newer ones aren't so great. they're also pretty expensive.
i also recommend B&Ws, but i don't think they do active speakers, so you'd need an amp, so i'd guess that's out.

i bought these because they looked cool and were firewire. they sound like shit, i wouldn't recommend them.

i r shopping for new speakers as well.. 2.0 or 2.1
have had klipsch promedia 2.1s for like 6 years, great speakers but that have a few severe design flaws (power switch on the subwoofer?!)i keep seeing speakers with little remotes on the desk. they look like i-trigue 3000 or 3330 but i could swear the remote was illuminated. crazy.
so yeah, any suggestions for around $100 or less whilest i google my ass off? thanks.

As an audiophile, I can whole heartedly recommend the Soundsticks II. The quality out of these babies are phenomenal. And its always a conversation piece.

test drove a bunch of speakers so far this weekend. have yet to find anything that sounds decent at low volumes (which is how they'll be used mostly).... cant crank them up until after 6pm :(
