A friend showed this blog to me and I feel compelled to respond.
Every single one of us has had a client who wouldn't listen to us- no matter how many options we showed them or how we tried to argue our points. They will want what they want and won't accept anything else, and since they're the ones paying us, we're ultimately forced to create something that is less than what we had ever intended.
None of you know how many concepts or rounds this designer went through with their client. None of you. And to sit here and pass judgment on them- to go to the extent that you set up a blog to do so, is ridiculous. Why not spend your time strengthening your own skills and seeking to encourage the people around you so that they learn, as opposed to tearing them down and inviting random strangers to do so as well?
Yes, this logo has some issues, but the basic concept is not bad. And based upon your postings about how the client likes it, I would say that the end result is more about them and their tastes, and not the designer's skill.

the logo is just too complicated. yes theres the basis of a good idea but the icon/mark thinggy itself just needs to be simplified to sit well with some yummy type.
